Mud flaps

I’m not planning to do much in the way of mods(farkles) but I have been thinking of getting some mud flaps. Are Toyota’s worth the price or are there aftermarket flaps that are better?

 

The Toyota ones fit much nicer, you can often find them in market places.

The old 2nd gen trucks broke them off all the time. But I have yet to see an OEM 3rd gen break off.

 

You can get an OEM set for about $65 from the online Toyota dealers. Not sure you can do better for that price.

The OEM Toyota fit really well, follow the lines of the truck and blend in better IMO.

 

I would do rockbloks for any over sized tires.

I really like my Rekgen's.

 

I got these and a year later still holding up well and were a perfect fit..pretty much an exact knockoff of factory flaps.

I think a lot of these aftermarket parts are actually made by the same company and sold to multiple distributors. Like the armrest organizer-there are 15 different brands on Amazon and they all look identical. The nice thing with Prime is you can hold them up and see if they fit nicely and if not send them back. Mine used OEM mounting fasteners so no drilling and I suspect the other Amazon ones posted by Draxxas are the same. Very good quality and you will not be disappointed.

 

Where in NoCal are you? I have some RekGen mudflaps I’m selling.

 

A while back I went looking for mud flaps and couldn't find any that were compatible with the lowly SR. Seems like they all only fit Taco's with factory fender flairs.

 

Rekgen’s are a perfect fit on my 2017 SR

 

I rock some RekGens on mine. They are pretty solid. I even ripped one off it went back on just fine.

 

I took my RekGens off and put on the OEM mudflaps. The RekGens just didn't grow on me.

 

therealprotaco those look really good, I was wondering my self what to replace the stock ones with since I got tired of dragging them on rocks all the time. but are they worth the 100$?

 

If I didn’t rip the stock ones off in the desert I probably wouldn’t have bought these. Are they worth $100? Sure if you need them, they were also on the cheaper end of aftermarket mud flaps when I bought them. They are definitely more durable than the stock flaps.

I bought some Toyota knock offs for $ 19.18 delivered from Chtautoparts on Ebay. Still available today.
Lined right up with factory mounting holes, install took 10 minutes. If they break off roading, I'm only out $19. Until then the paint on my rocker panels will be happy.

 

The Weather techs fit perfect and are shorter than the Toyota ones. I only like molded flaps and am not a fan of the flat ones visually, they look too much like Universal fit even though they're not. Weather Techs are made in the USA which is something I try to buy when possible. Those $39 knock offs look great, but are likely made in China (don't get me started on that subject). The aftermarket flat style would likely give you better protection and I plan to buy something like that for my Subaru as it doesn't have as many options. Tacomas have so many options for so many things, I like that. You can't go wrong with any of these options it seems.
