I've got 2 sets of aftermarket seat heaters fully installed, other than attaching the final wiring. Red goes to battery positive, black to battery negative. I'm good with that. White goes to "accessory, door, key, ACC". I'm assuming that's just any supply that gets turned off when the car is off, so the battery doesn't get drained if the heaters are left on (kids in the back are the ones who would do that).

    2 questions:
    1. Is the easiest way to connect to something that turns off power to use an add-a-fuse to the seat heater fuse? I figure that's got a 20A fuse. The 2 sets of heaters I got each have an in-line 15A fuse, so they'll be doubly fused, which is fine with me. I've got T-Taps, but the wiring coming out of the upper part of the interior fuse box doesn't let me see which wire is to the seat heater fuse.

    2. Can I connect the wires to the battery for now and drive my Taco, and just be careful not to leave them on, or risk a dead battery? In the current lockdown in NY I can't get hold of a 20A add a fuse and it would be nice to be able to drive my truck if needed.

I apologize for starting another thread on this topic, but I've read like 20 of them and can't find an answer to this question.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I doubt they will work if not hooked up to a switched circuit.

I've gotten my add a fuse from Amazon in the past. I'm in NY as well and saw that advanced auto parts was open this morning when I drove by. I've seen them in there before.

I've got switches in my set-up; 1 for each heater.
My local auto stores only have 10A add a fuse kits in mini low profile. Everything I see says to use at least 20A. Considering I'm actually doubling the amount of seat heaters from the stock set, I'd like to stick with 20 minimum (even though there are 15A fuses inline for each set).

Got an add a fuse kit and plugged it into the OEM Seat Heater fuse. It stays on when the Taco is off. Any ideas as to why?

Because the OEM circuit is: Battery - fuse - relay - heater - ground; IGN fused source - switch - relay - ground.

I used the cigarette lighter Fuses with add a fuse. Never had a problem.

What do the instructions say about the IGN tap? What amps does it require? If it's only to allow the added heater switch to turn on/off it might be less than 1 amp, not the 15A or more you're guessing at...the heater pads have their own 15A, right? Why would you think the switch to ON needs the same amps?

The instructions are barely in English. I've tried watching the company's YouTube video on how to install and it was useless. They offer a ton of different switches and just say in the video to follow the instruction sheet. The description I gave above is exactly what the instructions say- black to negative, red to positive, white to accessory door key ACC. Not even any punctuation. lol
Yes, the pads have a 15A fuse for each set of 2. I had wired things like fog lights and stereos in the past. So I was in a bit over my head. If this white wire is essentially just to light the switches, then I'd assume you're right, that it wouldn't need anywhere near that big of an amp rating.
I'll try the cigarette lighter fuse, as suggested above by Mickeyman. Thanks to you both!

Moved the add a fuse to Power Outlet #1 and it worked perfectly. Thanks guys! Very much appreciated. And now that I got the heaters in, you can all expect the temps to rise in a hurry.

    You're not using a 20 amp on that add-a-fuse....right?
