I use them on my hatch.

I am ordering a set of TE37s for my wife's RAV4 from @ShowstoppersUSA but they wanted $164 for Rays lug nuts which I have seen for $65 on ebay which I assume are Chinese knock offs. They are as low as $91 on Amazon. Is there a way to determine whether these companies are selling genuine Rays or not? Thanks

 

Hard to tell sometimes if a product is fake or not. I probably wouldn’t go with the eBay ones.

 

Seems right, I was shopping for a set when I bought my TE37 and that pricing swayed me away.

Thanks for the link. Those are for the steel version. Rays also makes a Duraluminum version which uses forged 7075 aluminum. For around $50 more I could save almost 2 pounds or 1/2 pound per wheel. Benjamin Franklin would say that I am being penny wise and pound foolish but it is really only a dinner out for my wife and me. Have you ever had any experience with the Aluminium lugs? My only concern would be stripping the threads.

 

For lug nuts, steel is a far superior metal. Also your weight savings are at the center of the wheel so will probably have little overall effect. Tires with a 2.5lb weight savings would likely have more effect as the weight is further out on the radius.

 

random but on the topic of lugs, which set are you guys running as a locking set of lugs?

 

I personally wouldn't run aluminum lugs on my truck, personal preference. I have on my cars however with no issues.

If you want the 24pc Rays duralumin lugs @ShowstoppersUSA has them.

 

I've had the Muteki sr48's, the rays duralumin and then went project kics r40 iconix.

You can't go wrong with any of the options, with muteki being a forged steel and being the most budget option with matching locks, I'd always so that is the no brainer options.

Which lead me to the PK R40-Iconix. Sourcing a matching 4pc lock was extensive, and is definitely a "want" of an item. Besides having it, it does have a floating cone seat which was a plus for me when I had my Dash White x's.

Another option would be the Sr45, it is the "equivalent" of the sr48, but 3mm shorter and has a floating cone.

 

I got McGards and absolutely love them. Had them on throughout the winter and no rust. They're also floating cone except for the locking lug.
