Ive been looking at the skid plates for the front of my truck. I'd only get one for looks cause I don't go off road. I'm wondering if you have to take the plate off that is on there from factory

Yes you do most aftermarket skids reuse the oem hardware.

If you really want a skid plate only for looks and want to spend the $$$ for one , by all means get one. If it makes you happy go for it. But I have to say I have never ever heard anyone say, man what an awesome skid plate, it just really makes your truck look cool. Again it’s your truck go for it. I’m just not sure anyone will see the beauty of it.

No but the factory ones, look good, are inexpensive, and they don't get in your way for maintenance. Many other functional plates you have to remove to do an oil change.

Yeah I had them add a factory one on mine bc for some reason I thought it looked cool and matched my silver truck front end lol. Now I’m kinda wishing mine had the cool red raised TRD lettering on it lol. But it still looks pretty good and I think adds a little bit to the front end. If not just a little more security also.
