    Hi guys,
I have a 2018 black LTD. The chin strap/plastic shield got smucked today when something flew off the car in front of me on the highway (it was like the size of an alternator, but assume it wasn't since he kept going :)) I managed to line up my wheels so it went dead centre underneath, but the shield took the hit, and possibly the skid plate, and rear tire. Anyways, it seems like kind of a cheap plastic thing, wondering if there is something better to replace it with instead of the original part? Thank you.

    Mods? Yes.
Unless there's some reason you want it in particular, it can be taken off without harm

Lost some of that with the hole in it, lol. I read that it can help a bit with mileage.

hahah. Well .... Maybe I'll take the $100 replacement cost and put it towards a bumper guard instead.

I have been trying and trying to remove mine naturally. I have had no luck. Smashing through snow drifts and big puddles has done nothing! Nice work on finding a way :D

Love my air damn, but when mother nature decides to remove it, itll stay gone.

After many trails, I'm starting to think she wont touch it, and all the bro's preaching "off road clearance" are full of shit

I believe the front end looks so much better without it.

Ahh yes, the old "this member limits who can see their profile" then proceeds to talk shit about people that actually wheel their rigs. Have fun driving on "trails" that are actually just dirt roads and acting like you've taken your stock sport on anything that would actually require off road clearance.

Take it off. My 19 TRD OR didn't have one on when I bought it new. Might be because it came with the TRD skid plate factory installed.

Surely depends what you’re doing. My skid plate is beat to hell from nosing up to large rocks. If mine had had that chin strap, it’d be gone for sure

I'm pretty certain all ORs come without it.

Is there *any* truth to improved MPG on the highway with one on?

(I'm perfecty fine with the usual snarky and passive agressive comments towards board members trying to eek more MPG out of their truck, as long as it comes with some factual advice. TIA)
