I’ll admit that the last time I considered a different car stereo was about 20 years ago, so as far as what is available, what are my options, I know little. I looked around here and have seen a lot of your set ups and it got me thinking…

I looked at the how to’s and it’s well within my capability so I’m starting to shop around.

    What I want:
    GPS nav with traffic
    DVD player
Ability to hook up my mp3 player (not ipod)
Ability to hook up a wireless back up camera (for the back of a trailer)

I don’t need to upgrade the sound with an amp or subs or anything like that, and I don’t need the one with the best sound quality. Anything as good as the factory stereo sound will do for me. Budget wise, as cheap as possible, preferably under $500.

Currently I have a 2005 Tacoma with the factory non JBL 6 disk changer.

    Any thoughts on good options?

your not going to find nav WITH traffic for under 500. You can get an alpine iva-w205 with NVE-p1 nav from 6thave.com for under 500 though. They let you submit your best price. A guy i work with got one with nav for 450-, it was a complete steal. mp3 (aux in) cable form alpine will cost you another 10 bucks. If you decide to go with the traffic updates, alpine makes a unit and you could always ad that in the future.

boyo makes a wireless camera which should work for you. But you said you want it on the back of a trailer and idk what their range is, so make sure to check that out.

Thanks! $500 was just a hopeful starting point. I'll check out that alpine.
