Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
What RPMs are those of you who have the manuals seeing at 70mph?

Wondering how much difference between the manual 4.30s vs the auto 3.91?

    Thanks!

This is a favorite site of mine:
    http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html

You can use the gear ratios linked in my signature as data for that page. Be sure to click the Save button at the top when you are done.

Like that site would say, with my 265/70R17s, I see about 2,200rpm or so at 70. Perfect for my needs.

if you like MT trucks then get the MT and don't even ask about the AT.

I drive conservatively...especially on road trips. My 06 will see 20-21mpg on a long trip.

The Wildpeaks in that size are pretty close to 32s, like 31.7 or 31.8. The 2nd Gen gearing is very different for both the MT and AT. I don't have that data at hand though.

Do it. We need to keep them alive.

My wife gets about 17 mpg with a lot of stop and go on her commute. I have been driving it since she is to pregnant to get in and out comfortably. I expect to see an increase since my commute is clear highway.

I'm like everyone...love the laziness that an auto allows....but manual is more funner. I don't drive in a lot of traffic and haven't owned a standard for a while. Looking to maybe get one before they aren't even an option anymore.

With the hybrid coming for the 4th Gen and the number of ATs sold, I have a feeling the 3rd Gen might be the end of the MT. That is just my opinion.

Anything I'm not thinking about with the Manual? (as far as what equipment is same with auto or differing)

the real question i would ask is: if your AT seems indecisive, frequently shifting/hunting, and not really 'deliberate' with gear choice like a MT driver would be, then would that frustrate you? do you want to be in control of your current gear choice? if yes, MT no question. the AT Tacomas are not decisive nor deliberate with gear choice. opposite of what a MT driver wants.
