Yea it’s like 50/50 right now if a stock goes up 10% for the day or down 10%. You could notice patterns and get lucky I’m sure, or play options trades.

Investors are giddy about the government/fed spending money that they don't have.

Japanification is here folks except instead of a nation of savers we're a nation of spend thrifts. This is uncharted waters, but a few will claim there's always a bust every ten years and that this one was like the last.

Stocks are still too high, but I admire the effort put forth by the Fed to re-inflate the bubbles. Inflation what's that lol

I just cannot wrap my head around why the fed is even talking about maintaining inflation right now. If anything we need deflation to up peoples buying power. Fed will fed though.

I was shuddering when I heard leaders claiming we need a response like Europe and japan....

You can build a nice, safe, dividend portfolio at these prices that pays $400+ a month, and that’s conservative with current deals.

Sooner or later it's going to get away from them and we could end up with hyper inflation. If we'd just let the market weed out the losers instead of intervening we'd be in a much better place.

It's a catch 22. I bet divorces, violent crimes, homicides and suicides rise in the coming months and year. When people are pushed to the edge something has to break.

It reminds me of the different ways people raise kids. The super strict parents sometimes do more damage, while the lenient parents end up with ok kids. I’m of the lenient parent approach on this virus, let it run its course. The restrictions will do more damage.

Most of the time it's like they do the opposite of what they should... which tends to conveniently be stuff they can use as a reason to keep them around.
In related news i've seen one of those Masterclass adds yesterday for an econ class by Krugman, even just the add was cringy

    Krugman, what an idiot.

Listen to the contra Krugman podcast. An economist picks his weekly NYT article apart and explains how wrong Krugman is, it's great.

That's what they should have done in 2008, different situation now. Same result down the road though.

Interest rates should have been around 5% when this all started.

The reason the stock market has to be propped up in perpetuity is because almost everyone relies on in for retirement with 401ks, IRAs, ROTHs, etc. There aren’t many more pensions or other retirements left. I think even the military changed or is trying to change their retirement. They can’t let price discovery and free markets happen anymore. That’s my opinion at least.

Well I got out of the market in February or March of last year because I was afraid of a market crash/depression/recession and I didn’t want to get caught with my pants down.

Now that I have purchased shares 25-50% lower that their normal highs, what kind of person would I be to pull out?
If we turn into Japan from the 90’s then so be it. I can wait for the new decade if I have to, but I don’t think it will come to that. I’ll take my chances.

The market is only 10% lower now than it was in February of last year. Still a good move though, it worked out.
