Hey guys, I am going to get a replacement engine soon since im starting to have vanishing coolant and need to fix a lot of tinkering by previous owner. Has anyone had an engine placed in their bed from the delivery lift gate? My drive way is cobble stone and at a slope I would not be able to get the engine up with a hoist or mount. Assuming it arrived in a full trailer he wouldnt have room to back up to my garage anyway. Anyone know if this is possible or would the driver tell me to bugger off. Thanks!

Youd have to be pretty methodical and cautious. Assuming driver has a pallet jack, it would get hung up on the transition, and also damage your bed.

When the weight hits your bed, it will drop unless you block up your frame.

Best bet would be to winch it/use rope and pulleys anchored at your front bed hold downs. Does that make sense?

Youd also stand a good chance of damaging your tailgate near the back edge of the bed, and your tail lights would be vulnerable to the edge of the lift gate. Could use some 3/4 ply over the tailgate transition, and some sort of padding and blocking to protect the ends of your bedsides.

How heavy is the delivery weight? You the driver might be able to just shove the pallet, if the friction isn't too high.

Don’t over think it. Pull the tailgate, lay down some 2x’s and go.

its for a 5vz and a L28 (L28 I could probably get up the drive on the engine stand. 5vz not so much because the stoned are 8x8s with sunken edges.) If its that involved im assuming the delivery guy isnt going to risk the transition. This crap was a lot easier when I worked at a place with a loading dock and forklift heh.

Could you have the engine delivered to the nearest hub and do a will call pickup for the package there?

Ended up hooking his pallet jack to my neighbors winch while he parked in the garage. Little sketchy but it worked.
