I was a bull up until the rise today and yesterday. Don’t ask me why I pulled out. Wish I wouldn’t have, but I couldn’t help it.

I am bullish because I think we are gonna come out on the other side of this ready to stop relying so much on Asia and other parts of the world to provide our goods

The Max fiasco is wrapping up. They will restart production in May. Max will fly again. They're seeking $60 billion handouts from the fed.

If and when we go back down I will rejoin. I’m going to pull some cash out though. I probably shouldn’t have put in as much as I did to begin with but I just had a feeling that it was a good opportunity. Going to have a deck built for the house and pool now. Probably going to have some dirt brought into the yard and spread around in certain spots. You know, typical homeowner money pits haha.

Kicked off my 401k rollover today, so I'll have 6figures of money to bank my retirement Hope's and dream on next week LOL!!

I like how I can rollover a 401k in 3 days or less, yet I have to wait 15days to transfer a web domain I own over to squarespace so I can build a website.

Medium term (12-18mos) I agree, shorter term I'm less confident about that. I think there will be a lot of demand destruction created by all of the layoffs, and a fair bit of economic anxiety for those who think they might be laid off. I think a lot of companies will use this as an excuse to do layoffs that they've been wanting to do for a while.

It could easily drop to 2007 levels in the near future. In 10 years, it’ll be higher than 2019 levels though.

It will be interesting to watch the sentiment of the thread when the layoffs start permitting out of the businesses directly affected to the ones that supply those and not even related.

That’s a tough assertion to make without knowing the background of those on this thread with high sentiment. Maybe some don’t rely on a job for money, or any source of income that can be impacted by whatever happens with the economy.

Outside of healthcare and legal services, what business is 100% insulated from the economic situation of the entire nation?

Nobody is 100% insulated. But if you're retired and have a pension you probably aren't too worried about layoffs.

I know a lot of them are pretty underfunded, with our states being two of the worst. But I don't think the feds will let state pensions fail. They will bail them out, just like we're going to do with Boeing and the airlines. At some point running a huge debt and deficits might cause real problems, but we can probably kick that can another 10-20 years down the road.

I wouldn't be surprised if NY and NJ cover more than this in unemployment on their own. NJ most places have half their people on furlough or not working. Even the open businesses are mostly skeleton crews. But also wouldn't be surprised if 90% of those people were back to work within a month or two, 'city that never sleeps' shit really is true nothing ever stops around here - also kinda why this is hitting nyc so hard
