Mr. Marv: Update on my audio build

Well, I'm on week 2 of installing everything. HU is in and operational. It's a rat's nest back there until I get all the modules installed though. I don't want to bother zip-tieing everything as long as I'm still removing it on a daily basis. I have a bluetooth adapter, an external equalizer, and a GPS antenna to install still. Here's a pic of the Alpine INA-W900 with the Scosch 2DIN adapter. Notice the slight bulge on the drivers side. Lots of wiring back there...



The external equalizer I'm thinking of mounting in the bottom of the center console. I need it to be fairly accessible, as there is a USB port to plug a PC into. It also has to be near the HU so it can plug it, and also needs to be near the RCA cable run, as the amp will plug directly into it. It also can't be mounted upside down (per instructions).



The amp is on and functional. I like the space behind the mounting board. I drilled some holes in it, and am going to run the cables through the holes and spool the slack on the board, secured with some small wood screws and plastic loops. I have the power cables done, next up will be the speaker and RCA's.



Lastly, the sub has been challenging. It is an extremely tight fit. So tight, that I will not be able to lower the seat without the possibilty of damaging the soft rubber surround. I'm thinking in the future about sanding down an eigth of an inch from the entire backside to give it that extra bit of room it needs. Removing the Ensolite is also an option, but since it's the only deadening material on that back wall, I would rather only do that as a last resort.

I suppose another options would be to remove the subwoofer and route an eigth of an inch off the mounting circle, but I'm not sure if that would leave enough room for the basket inside the chamber.

 

Amp mounted and cables ran behind the unit. I drilled out holes and ran the cables from behind. I think it looks much cleaner this way. Its currently screwed into the sub with one screw, as I had to put them in seperatly because of the sub clearance issue. When I come up with a more permanent solution for that I'll mount them together properly.

 

Looks great so far and once you remove those brackets from behind the enclosure your clearance issues will be solved!

 

How are you all getting by with leaving the plastic on the back of the rear seats?
It looks the Sub would smack it eventually distroying the Subwoofer
