Hope it doesn't look like it got the virus. A friend of mine has one that looks like it's smiling. AWFUL!

Buddy of mine mounted the elk he shot last year in Colorado. I nearly vomited when I heard the price (I’ve never mounted anything.. always just lopped the antlers off). We are picking it up on the way back from Montana this season.

This is my worst one. Mount looks great. Problem is the deer weighed 195 lbs. The guy who mounted it I’d put him up against anybody’s work. He mounted it on a form for about a 120 lb deer and the neck is so small (you can actually see where the arrow came out of his neck).

My son calls it a doe because there’s another deer beside it that weighed 165 and it’s on the correct form.

The small form does make the rack look bigger :D but it’s a 165 1/8” 13 pt, he didn’t need any help with a small form

How much for an elk? $2,000?

A whitetail deer around here is $450 now. Doubt I’ll be mounting anymore.

Yea 2200 if I remember correctly and that was if he picked it up himself (we both live at opposite ends of NC). So when we drive to Montana for bow season, we are going to swing down to Colorado and pick it up. Shipping was nearly a grand

I'm pretty much done with shoulder mounts. The price, the care,.... Euro mounts for me. On reclaimed barn wood, old shutters, fence posts. I like the clean simple look of euros as well.

He must have had to trim lots of hide off for that, which sucks.
The one I shot had a huge neck, which I repeatedly stressed to the taxiderm guy. He showed me a mount his son killed that was roughly average in (neck) size, said it was 22". He said mine should be around 29". We'll see...

That’s a big deer! That would be a trophy buck in eastern NC or on my land in East Texas

He lacked 1” of being the NC state record at the time (2003) for non typical with a bow. He’s been bumped to about #6 or 7 in the state now.
