I would have thought if you already owned a flash kit you would get the license for free because we already spent $700 on the kit. you make a good point.

I agree. Single guys should get some sort of break, especially since we have been here for years supporting this product.

So... free updates all along the way for the past 4 years, the ability to fine tune your truck to your preferences, and the ability to tune any truck with your same ECU code is not worth $79?

Give the guy a break. He just watched his business he has spent years building go to next to zero overnight. Everyone is just trying to survive right now, literally.

Glad I got mine on the tax sale, so I’ll be in it $680. :crapstorm:

Having said that, there is a cost premium with being an early adopter with many things. First ones in often cover most of the development costs. It is what it is.

Very well said. Think if it this way, he could release 2.0 final and be the end of it. You are getting what you paid for, a finalized tune. It's up to you if you wanna pay the $79 to customize on top of that, or take advantage of the community tunes or what OVTune develops in the future.

I don't expect Mat to give vF Tuner to existing customers (flash kit / dongle) for free. I don't understand why some wish they could have bought the flash kit before they went out of stock / discontinued. Why would you want to spend more money for less????

I did tune my built Honda using Hondata S300, but I have no desire to tune the Tacoma my self.

Out of curiosity, how will Mat make more money with vF Tuner? For less money, I can tune my own truck, and anyone else truck with the same ECU ID?

The example tunes provided with vF Is not going to be all of the tunes available on the flash it. It's not a 1:1 flash kit tune to vF example tune. That's simply not fair.
They will be versions of it. A basic version, that you can build from, or create from.
The custom options (gearlock, etc) will be options in vF that you, the user, will have to adjust to make it how you want. Not me.
vF Tuner owners will not get any tuning support from us, outside of some training material we will be providing to everyone.

With vF you get an example tune which is a black and white outlined canvas. you color it in. Flash kit tunes are a fully colored painting.

Only Flash kit users can request to have the tune they paid for ( one of our final tunes ) converted to be used in vF. (not all of them though.. there are too many).

no tune, example or not, is emissions tested and certified (unlike our flash kit), unless someone does this testing.
no tune, example or not, has been dyno tested by us.
    etc.

I have not released all the details about this yet. Speculation is only going to make everyone mad and confused.

How do I know if the tune downloaded correctly. At first I was getting a corrupted error then I went into the “tune” folder and selected the one I downloaded. It took a few minutes then said to turn ignition to off.. am I done?

Howdy all. I've been off the forum for a bit due to life things. I just uploaded the 2.0 Beta on my rig and I gotta say that there are huge improvements over 1.05.1. The biggest change that I've seen so far after about 100 miles driven is the 5th to 4th gear downshift "I'm an asshole that wants to race you!" experience is finally gone. I thought that this was due to crappy gearing by Toyota, but now know better. Also, the truck now holds 5th gear longer before shifting into 4th. So much nicer. The tip in is smooth and no longer jerky. I tried forever to make the acceleration from a stop smooth, but the truck showed that it had it's own plans. No more! This thing now drives like it should have from the dealer. I'm so looking forward to the 2.0 final and all future improvements that come along through the community.

Thanks @OVTune for making our trucks drive like we're not towing a house when we're not actually towing a house.

Everyone stay safe and healthy and let's have a big ol Tacoma Jamboree after we get past this. Cheers!

After searching through several hundred pages with no success, what is the set-up for 2.0 Beta regarding gearlock, S mode, etc?

Thank you for the clarification. I guess we'll wait and see how it works.

One last try with this question: Are you still releasing 2019 04B30 dongle test files this week, or did that idea get scrapped?
