Multi-lane freeways lead to primary/secondary paved roads lead to maintained FS gravel roads lead to side trails (logging) which are generally closed or open to 4x and SXS only with no maintenance, and tracks go on further into the woods.

Hey there. So glad I found some threads dedicated to OK!
Born and raised in OK. My father worked at General Motors until they closed the plant several years ago, and opted for an early retirement. We’ve always been a Chevy family but I just had to have a Tacoma. It took him a little while but he warmed up to it once he saw it :)

Picked the new truck up at Bob Howard Toyota in Edmond. Had a good experience there.

    2020 SR5 v6 4x4.

Not sure what I want to do with it yet. I’d be happy driving it stock, but I know I’ll get that inevitable itch to make it more “mine” in the coming months.. Any suggestions? I’d like to start with an AVS low profile matte black front deflector. I’m open to suggestions!

    Congrats and welcome!

What to you plan on doing with the truck? If off roading, I'd get sliders and at least a front skid.

Any folks here in the OKC metro that fall in the high risk groups (60+, immunocompromised, etc) need someone to run errands for them, feel free PM me. I telework in the evenings, so I'm free most mornings.

Hey there! Not quite sure what I’ll be getting into. Off reading sounds like something I’d like to try. I’ll look into the parts you mentioned. I’m sure it’s a slippery slope!

Went out to Overholser with the Kiddo and shot a nice lil photo on the NE section of the lake, right by that cool bridge. We hung out there for a while, watching the water and waving to the kayak paddlers as they came by! She thought the dog in a kayak was super cute, so she was happy!

Drove South and East to get to the SW side of the lake, my girl wanted to look for ducks and turtles, but while we were there, there were some guys off roading in a pretty muddy bog. We stood there and watched, maybe even cheered them on, and the little one may have been thumbs upping over and over!

I wanted to rip my new 4WD through that mud so badly, but it would have been my first time and I had my kiddo with me. Wouldn’t want to pull some bonehead move and get too stuck, ya know? Plus I had just detailed my truck, which I have only had 2 weeks. Damn I shoulda tho, it looked like a blast! But now I know where they are! I just wanna mud! Soon enough it’s gonna HAPPEN!!

Nice truck! I like the blackout on white.

We go kayaking there a lot. Was going to go today, but the freak thunderstorm put a stop to that. If the kiddo like turtles, you'll see tons if you paddle back into Stinchcomb (up river).

Are you referring to the dirt roads that come off the main lakeshore drive? Your truck would have no problem with any of that if you don't do anything insane.

Mud will get into places you'll never fully be able to remove, lol. Hard for me to see new truck put through that lol.

    Question!
What’s the deal with the Lighthorse police???
I see them everywhere and they are always driving around like they own the streets.
Do they have jurisdiction to pull you over on state highways?
I flew by an unmarked Lighthorse truck this afternoon and he tagged me with his radar. I didn’t realize it was him radiating me till after I slowed down and he passed me.

Welcome to Indian Territory. IF I remember right, they are part of the Chickasaw Nation in S. Central OK, but they have lands scattered about, just like the Cherokees. They don't have jurisdiction on private, county, state or federal roads, but be cautious where you may go off-roading. Once you're on Tribal lands, you're fair game.

I've lived in OK 52 of my 62 years and never had an encounter. I suspect they are just doing their job. Respect them and the law and you'll be fine.
