Should I lift my 2020 Tacoma Pro

Doesn’t this mean you are topping out the shock 100% of the time?? Wow, surprised they haven’t failed.

 

I had no plans to lift my Pro at all. Matter of fact that was a reason to spend the extra money toward the Pro, but after adding some weight in the form of racks, bed covers and after going out on some trails, I “justified” to myself that I wanted the higher clearance and hell, wanted what I thought was a better look. I would count 2 or 3 times I went off road and was really glad I had the extra clearance, but those were difficult trails and certainly not the norm. If I had to do it over again I would have gotten an off-road and spent that extra money on the lift but I already had the Pro and it wasn’t worth it to sell the truck and start over. In the end it’s up to you. I think everyone would build their truck differently if you could go back in time, you think you know what you want, then life changes, or all of a sudden your family of 4 decides they all love to ride bikes and take too much stuff for just an overnight camping trip and your DiamondBack cover doesn’t allow enough room........LOL....

 

If you're only looking to fit the 285s you don't need to touch the truck

 

Not quite - there’s still a fair amount of travel in the shock after all. Just means my baseline is 1.5” higher than the shock is designed for, so i’m operating outside the proper valving set-up, and the ride suffers for it. Strangely it seems most stiff on large bumps, where the road compresses the suspension upwards — which would put it towards centerline. Of course i’m comparing it to the preposterously soft & ponderous 4600 factory shocks. Likely I’d have some more travel in the rear with 3” shocks.

I’m new here but recently traded my 2018 Trd Pro manual for a 2020 auto Trd Pro in Army Green. Dealer agreed to switch out my lift and tires to make the sale as well as my Audiocontrol LC7i, Kicker amp, JBL stadium speakers, and Rockford Fosgate powered sub. Trade was the best I have ever had but that’s another story.

I guess the virus outbreak slowed sales down. This is first pic since Revtek 427ap lift installed. Nice to be part of Tacomaworld.

 

I'm waiting for April 1st. I think there could be some sweet new incentives!

 

The strange thing is no two trucks are built the same, yes, no shit, no two are the same for fit. My neighbor has the same year as mine and he could fit 285's with no rub and no adjusting the caster while my truck, no way. We took his rims and tires off and put them on my truck and laughed because they hit. I suppose I could've taken it to the alignment rack and moved up the caster a bit, but we just laughed. I spoke to buddy who worked at Toyota a few years ago and he told me no two vehicles will come out the same even with all the robotic innovations. They always ran into fit and finish issues because they were always off just a touch here and there. Kind of funny really. That was the Texas plant, now they moved to Mexico? Good grief Charlito Brown.......

What rock sliders you running?

 

Finally, someone with a Pro that has actual sliders. Looks good bro.

I giggle every time I see lifted trucks that have steps that’ll just get hung up on rocks. It’s usually a tell tale sign that the truck will probably never see 4H, and 4L might as well not even exist.

Are you running wheel spacers? I have 285s and they dont stick out like that.

Never understood why anyone would buy a Pro if they are even thinking about lifting it?!? The biggest difference(and most expensive) in the Pro IS the suspension. Makes zero sense to lift it. Buy an Off Road if that's the end goal....

I love the 88 Rotors videos!
But there video today has me confused. They were adding a lift to a 2020 AG Pro. Spacer and aal plus 285/75/16's Nitto's. The lift tire combo did raise the truck about 4 inches when measured at the front fender. What has me confused is their measurements.
They measured about 33.3 inches stock ar the front fender. So I headed outside out to measure my bonestock 2020 AG TRD PRO.
I get about 36 inches stock. Now I know there's slight difference from the factory, maybe 1/8 or so. But 3 inches? Not happening. Something fishy here. Their final measurement work completed was about 37 inches. Mine stock is 36. If I added 2 inch taller tire's 285/75/16's I'd be at 37 inches.
And with no additional suspension or labor costs. Something doesn't add up. Just saying.
