    I initially went with CB, but I do mostly solo travel. A few years ago I did my technician test, then progressed to Extra Class. In my 80 Series I had both a VHF/UHF and HF rigs and enjoyed that.

    With my Tacoma, I just went with a UHF/VHF... Seems most people always have the $30-$50 handhelds with FRS so I'm usually good having HAM... I've not missed CB since I went HAM..... Good luck!!

    For the ham guys, what frequency do y’all use on the trail? Simplex? I don’t think I’ll hit any repeaters in big bend.
