I know you weren't asking me, but I just installed my Prinsu a week or two ago, so I'm pretty much an expert on the subject. (/s for those in the back).

I really like Victory4x4 but I chose the Prinsu for the very scientific reason that I think it looks better. Rubber strip on the Prinsu definitely contacts the roof, at least on mine. I've noticed absolutely no additional road noise from the rack itself. I also haven't mounted anything up there yet, which I'm sure will affect that.

Appreciate the input from anyone who intalled a roof rack regardless of the manufacturer so thank you!
    :thumbsup::thumbsup:
My question regarding the rubber strip is my concern that there will be some abrasion to the paint from road grime, loads, or just miniscule movement due to normal driving and road conditions ect.
    Is the hardware supplied stainless?

    1. Cost and steel feet. Not bent aluminum.
    2. Yes stainless
    3. It makes contact. Going to put some clear or black vinyl on roof. To prevent rub spot.

Have no noise and no loss in mpg. Maybe because I went overboard on rtv. Haha

All of these opinions and observations are appreciated by those of us in the market for one. Do you happen to have a sunroof?

To anyone with a roof rack and a sunroof, I’d appreciate some pictures with the sunroof opened and or tilted.

Very Smart! Thank you for the idea!

The crossbar hardware is all zinc coated to color match the rack, not sure the grade but I'm betting at least A2. The bolts that connect it to the roof are 8.8 carbon steel.

Forgot to mention, I can see the concern regarding damage to the paint especially on the roof which for whatever reason on Taco's always seems to have issues. I'm not too concerned, it's a solid rubber strip with good contact. I think putting an RTT up there might cause some wear and tear from off-roading causing vibrations, but with what I plan on loading out I think it'll be fine. Pretty sure the wind pattern will blow things up and over, not in between, but we'd need a wind tunnel to prove that.

I do have a sunroof. It still opens fully with how I have my bars mounted. In fact, it may have even helped reduce some of the wind noise when I have it tilted up. Again, that'll probably change once there's other stuff up there.

Planning to install my compressor today, I'll try and get you some pictures of the rack+sunroof while I'm at it.

Had the same idea. Wanted to get it done before I put the rack on, but the guy I was talking to about it disappeared and stopped returning my emails.

Here are some pics with sunroof tilted and opened. It’s really close when tilted but clears.

    Rack: UpTOP Overland Bravo

    No rub/touch on front fairing.

As you can see, I really don’t either. But I wanted to see if it would fit with all my other crap.

Hey I was on a thread the other day and I’ve looked and looked and looked but can’t seem to find it. It was a thread with a comprehensive list of issues with the 3rd gens.
I’m wanting to look at this list and do an inspection on my truck based off of the info in the list. Can anyone point me to that thread if you know where it’s at?

Not so much a what I did to so much as what I did for, but still...

I bought a black leather with red stitching fob cover so 1) my keys will stop hitting the plastic in my pocket and 2) it makes it easier to tell the difference between my Tacoma keys and my wife's Highlander keys. That and it goes pretty well with a black Pro.
