Oh don’t get me wrong. I’m outraged for you. Such a fine piece of craftsmanship packed by some joker high on glue. Mine was just a little bent, been sitting just fine after a year.

 

yah they pack the top and bottom nice but nothing on the sides. Tapped it out a bit.

 

Does anyone have a part number or know where i could find some rubber isolators that fit in the round tabs for the mounting points? I am missing one and cant track them down for some reason

 

The top bushings are 165470P110, and the lower bushings are 165480P110.

 

If the stock ones fit.....and my stock oem unit has them, I can send you what you need. I can’t remember if I used the stock ones or not so I may have em...

 

stock ones fit perfectly... even if your CSF mounts arrived bent.. ask me how I know.. ha.

 

How much coolant was everyone needing for the swap?

 

I bought 2 Toyota jugs I believe and ended up with a little bit left inside one of them.

 

Good to know. I had 2 but bought a third just in case.

 

Depending on how messy you get, the third jug is not a bad idea. I did the same.

 

I have two so hopefully I'm good. I might buy a third for good measure though

 

How much gap is acceptable? I can pull it close with zip ties but sides have some still. I knows it’s been discussed but wanted to get a gut check before I fill it up.

 

What is the thing that is holding it up from going more snug like stock? I would think that the gap all the way around needs to be minimal, it will make the fan able to pull air without that air going through the fins, defeating the whole purpose of the shroud. If you can't make it sit flush than it needs a gasket of some sort. If it is grinding some metal or plastic down slightly so that it snugs up correctly, do it... else get some weather strip and make sure it is sandwiched or adhered good in there so it doesn't get sucked in under fan vacuum, or pushed out by velocity pressure that might occur at speed.


To the broader group of folks that have installed either the FJ or Taco version of the radiator - does the FJ version stick out like this? Do others with the tacoma version have the same issue? Seems like this would also manifest itself in the mis-alignment of the top plastic cover part - I recall seeing pics of that part not lining up the holes for the push clips. Can anyone else confirm that?

 

I and many of us did rubber seal trim like door seal trim around it to fill the gap

makes sense I guess I assumed that Tacoma one for and the issue was with the FJ version.

I’ll look for some filler but I assume as long as no heavy driving it will be fine for now.

Seems like the mounts stick out just enough to cause issues. If you line it up and it take some finesse it gets better but still had some gap. I was able to get there back row as well. Closer enough they fit.



The issue I see are the top mounts. If they were 1/4” shorter maybe 1/8” we wouldn’t have the issue.

 

Are the bottom the same problem just less so, or only over protrusion is at the top? I am going to plan to cut those down. I don't mind using a small rubber seal, but it should fit better than that. Shaving off some of the aluminum block with a port-a-band or something shouldn't be too hard if you are careful.
