What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Did the ECGS bushing install today. so after I got the old bearing out and was getting ready to install the bushing, I noticed the old bearing had a bit of the outer race missing. At first thought it was a design feature to allow assembly, but then felt the surface and it was quite rough. So I bit the bullet and drained the dif to find two chunks of hardened steel matching the outer race. Something to keep an eye on. I did have a really hard time getting the ECGS removal tool behind the bearing - I had to thread in to rod and give the rod a good whack to get it fully behind. This is probably what snapped off those pieces. If I were doing it again I’d grind the tool down just a little bit. Aside from that (soo glad I caught it), there are no more vibes nor play in the CV shaft

Good call on the draining. I’ve broken almost every bearing in this same way, from exactly what you described. I always shove a plastic baggy in the diff first so nothing can fall in, and then run a magnet in there to make sure nothing is left. (Sharing this for anyone else reading who will tackle the job).

 

Modifies the power band a bit, allows engine to fully expel exhaust gases on each stroke and intake more air. Increased fuel economy and a bit more useable power in the low to mid range. Awesome product, highly recommend.

Why

 

Got my cab mount chopped and a bracket made for my extreme outback air compressor. I’ll post a pic of the bracket and compressor once I get it mounted up.

 

Being an long time cigar smoker, the best humidor (I have many) is my $10 ammo can lined with Spanish cedar. Been running that set up for 10 years and only charged it once. Stays perfect

 

Just finished swapping an 8-way fuse panel for the 6-way panel that I split the main buss on to have both ignition only fuses and always hot fuses. They fit nicely in the space under the 5-spd cup holders.

 

Did the rear diff breather relocate mod and took my suspension back to stock so I can get my icons rebuilt. Had helper as well.

1+ on the diff breather mod. One of the first things I did as high water crossings are common here... In my subdivision haha. Water intrusion and grey diff fluid no more!

 

Long time lurker, first time poster. After much research and instruction on here, I installed Headstrong 2.5 coils and Headstrong Progressive 3 leaf AAL with Bilstein 5100s on all 4 corners. Also replaced my stock TRD OR wheels and 265/70/r16 with Icon Rebounds in Bronze with 285/70/r17. Then took the wife and dogs to the park for a walk! I'm hoping the images uploaded successfully. If not I'll try again.
