It can be done via a video observation for the test. At least that’s supposed to be allowed per one of the questions on the extra exam.

Clubs should still be able to get small groups done in person if they're willing. Obviously it's a personal choice

I'm an ARRL VE and Extra Class. The VEs can observe the session by real time video per FCC rule 97.509(h) but you still need three to administer the exam. If this nonsense drags on clubs need to organize a way to administer remote sessions and get licenses done.

@DaveInDenver How hard is it to become a VE? There are many VEs here local, but 98% are 10yrs into retirement.

Not difficult at all. The hardest part is upgrading from Tech since you have to be an Advanced (if your ticket is grandfathered), General or Extra Class to be a VE. It's essentially just taking the time to fill out paperwork. I got mine some time ago. Several of the people with advanced tickets got their credentials so that we could run licensing classes and give exams to the 4WD club I belonged. The problem was most are only Generals so we could only administer Tech exams. You need three Extras to give General and Extra exams.

I am as well. Don't let 'em talk down to you, just passing the AE exam is an accomplishment.

My local club canceled technician exam for next month...so here I sit at home all studied but no where to take a test. Even nearby cities have them all canceled.

I am most intrigued by digital ham. I went ahead and bought a dmr radio from Bridgecomm. I ordered the Anytone 878 ht. Gonna use an Openspot3 for my hotspot and cross mode. Once I get the hang of being new to hobby, then I will go for an analog/digital mobile in the truck.

So I am elbow deep with my dash torn apart yet again. And I saw some who shared a switch blank with a squared hol . Like for a RJ45 out let. Anyone know who what and how to get it?

    For microphones on my FTM-400XDR.

    thanks in advance

What are people using for RJ45 termination at the dash? (specifically 2nd gens) Been looking for one that fits in the blank button slots for under the heat/ac controls.

Finally decided to order up the morserino. I'm thinking that I might have spare time to learn. Ready to end the no code extra.

Me too. Some day I endeavor to become a KNOW CODE EXTRA. I'm struggling with disciplined practice though.

I'll be joining the HAM world as soon as testing starts up again. Will be running the Midland DBR2500 alongside my Midland Micromobile GMRS radio. Planning to do a fairly hidden install using mic dash blanks, etc.

    Looking forward to it!
