I have a 2020 double cab SR, ive owned it since the beginning of the year. Every so often (4 times now) since purchase I can get in the truck and turn the key to start it and it wont actually start up. I turn the key back off and try again and it wont start it wants to give but it wont start. I dont want to drain the battery or kill the starter but the only way to get it to run is to pump the gas pedal and let it sit for awhile before trying to start it again.

Anyone else have this problem with a new truck? I finally tightened my battery connections, I installed fogs today, and tightened them on good and the truck started right up. I do not know for sure what could be causing it. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I'm gonna monitor it, it eventually starts but it seems like it's happening every 3-4 weeks

Maybe the fuel pump... there is a recall on earlier models.

Monitor it? I’d have the dealer address that ASAP.

Bad battery (or alternator)? Just because a battery is new doesn’t mean it isn’t a bad one. It happens. Have someone test the battery.

I doubt your “pumping the pedal” and letting it sit is doing much of anything. Correlation isn’t always causation. Sure sounds like a faulty battery to me.

On a new truck that doesn’t crank over, i’d re-check the battery connections and cleanliness before anything else......

When I installed my fogs the negative connection wasnt as tight as I wouldve liked it. But after installing fogs I did tighten it down pretty good. I will be making a trip to the dealer at some point to have it checked out. I appreciate everyone's advice and will look into it and post back with what the dealership or I can come up with

Likely it was loose then, based on your previous post where truck seems fine now. A loose connection can be a pain as sometimes you get good contact, sometime you don't

Yeah, pumping only did something with carbonated systems where when you pressed the gas pedal it squirted extra raw gas. This helped with when you needed to accelerate. Fuel injection systems don't put extra fuel in the system by pumping. So I'm pretty sure that's just coincidental. It's a new truck, don't fret just take it in and have them make it right.
