Have to pay the instagram overlanders for selling your stuff. Advertising with "social media influencers" is stupid.

You also need to consider your adventure style. If you are going to a camp ground or setting up a " base camp" for multiple days I don't know that a vehicle based tent or awning set up makes sense, and setup times and ease of takedown is less important. If like me you hardly ever spend two nights in the same spot vehicle based systems work great, and set up time and take down time might be more of a consideration.

I try to keep it as simple as possible so I don't spend the whole time setting up and tearing down. I think the backpackers got it figured out with minimal gear. I have a 3 person tent, sleeping pads/bags for 2,msr burner and nesting camp kitchen, collapsible camp chair and other odds and ends that all fits in a 50L duffel I toss in the bed of the truck, strap to my bike, even flew with it once for a music festival. Its nice not having a lot to pack/unpack when I'm trying to sit on my ass in the woods.

Thank you to all who chimed in.

So I went ahead and ordered an Alps Mountaineering 6 person tent. Looks like a decent buy, seems super easy to set up being that it’s a two pole set up. I did look at the gazelle but for the price I opted with the Alps cause it was bigger. Having a 70lb Pitbull on a first time camping trip I would figure he might roam around a little more before he gets tired.

but yeah now to hopefully get out there and take a few Social Distancing trips and learn what more I need. And eventually in the future go RTT or camper.
