Yesterday I was headed down to my parents and because of all of the coronavirus stuff I was dodging crap on the freeway the whole way down.

Just about to pull off the freeway and this guy towing a trailer with a ride on mower was in front of me and slowing down.

I let off the gas and started to coast to slow down, until I saw that shit was falling off the trailer.

I hit the brakes just in time to watch a spark plug (or what looked like one) roll off the trailer bounce on the freeway and head up toward the truck.

It hit the hood first and then bounced off the windshield.

I pulled off the freeway, into a parking lot and was already imagining the damage......

    See pics attached.

No idea how that was all i got, and while the chip sucks, it could have been WAYYYYYYY worse. There was zero damage to the window!

Anyway, anyone else have a similar story? Interested to hear more!

I dodged a tire that came off an ole beat up truck on the freeway. Man, that was scary. Doing ~ 60mph on the freeway I actually saw the tire come off the rear axle and roll toward us missing our vehicles and bounce over the freeway median. Well, actually at that speed we caught up with the rolling tire! LOL

I have to believe it was some kind of prank on the vehicle owner or they were on weed playing with their wheels

I live in Chicago-proper and there are dozens of old shitbox trucks driving around picking up scrap from alleys. I don’t think i’ve ever seen one that looks like it would pass a safety inspection. They’re usually totally overloaded with crap falling off them all the time.....

A cop friend of mine told me his superiors tell them to ignore ‘little stuff’ like that and concentrate on major crimes. Part of living in a modern, progressive big city i guess.....

Had a drop in bed liner blow out of an ford ranger I used to own once. The car behind me ran part of it over. I pulled over but they kept on driving. I only had the truck about a week and the previous owner said they took off the canopy so it wasn't secured. I threw the bed liner back in the truck along with as much debris as I could find and then bolted it in when i got home.

Helped some tweaker once put back a wheel on his truck on the side of the highway. He had bought some used wheels from someone else and the guy didn't tighten the lug nuts down all the way. His jack wasn't tall enough so I had to pretty much dead lift the back of the truck so he could get the wheel on and then told him to take a lug from each of the other wheels and make sure they were all tight.

Very similar... one of those "road turtles" flew up and tagged my hood. I was not as fortunate as you. I received a golf ball size dent and scratch.

I used to race dirt track cars and had a wheel fall off a couple times. Couldn't figure out why. Turns out ford wheels don't fit hondas perfectly. It was just a beat up 86 honda accord so didn't care about the damage. My friends dad owns a wrecking yard and he let us take whatever we needed to race.

I feel ya, this was me in Arizona, ever been to Tucson, its nothing but trash and beat up trucks hauling loads of junk. Mattresses on the road, pieces of wood, buckets, rocks, so many rocks getting thrown at you on a regular basis.

it’s normally not this bad here, but because no one is working there is trash everywhere, and none of it is getting cleaned up. Freeway feels like a war zone. I was literally dodging dry wall, mattresses, boxes, bottles, etc for the entire 30 min drive

Last year, I made a trip to Discount Tire, for new wheels/tires on the wife’s 4Runner. When I left, got on the highway and in a section of crappy/rough road, semi truck kicked up a rock, and whack, big old chip right in line of sight. Pretty pissed. The next day, I take my Taco to have the 4Runner wheels/tires put on and get TPMS programmed. When I leave, I kid you not, exact same thing happens to my Taco. Same stretch of crappy highway, same spot in windshield. All I could think was FML...

I was 16 years old about 40 some years ago and swerved to miss some kids playing in the street only to run over their pet dog. Killed the dog immediately, I stopped, kids screaming, people screaming at me, I got scared, police show up, everybody calms down, cops took all of my info, insurance, told me to go home. Never heard anything about it again. To this day, I am just glad I didn't run over some kid who ran out into the street. I was bummed that I hit there dog for long awhile.
