mine still (and probably always will) sucks but I've had it for 4 years and am used to it now, I did get a free extended warranty for it being low on fluid so i'm not too worried about it... I definitely drive it differently than my 03 v8 4runner for sure tho

There has never been a transmission issue. Just a "I don't know how to drive it" issue.

I got my 2017 updated through the TSB rolling around here a couple years ago... Haven't really paid attention since then. It helped some for sure. Has Toyota come out with any more updated ECU "fixes"?

The other common complaint is the lack of "guts" in the truck... Another area where, IMO, "people don't know how to drive it". I have the heaviest truck (DCLB 4X4), and it will MOVE when I need it to. You just actually have to push the gas pedal farther in than might think!:)

I hated my 2020 transmission. I haven't driven an earlier truck, so I can't imagine how bad they were before the updates. I had issues in cruise, where it would downshift excessively and hang there, 4500 rpm or so, then would not upshift on the flats. Would do it for miles until it had some driver input. Went to the dealer 2x, was told there were no issues. Ordered an OVTune in February, installed at about 4500 miles, and really have no complaints now at 6600 miles. Haven't had an issue in cruise since. Doesn't hunt like it did before either, very happy now!

nothing yet, just tacked on the all weathertech mats and using the free factory cover on the back of it
Mines still trash. Coming to stops it's has that horrible downshift clunk like getting rear ended..
