    Anyone Run these?

    Original Post:

    "Hello looking for some help.

Looking at purchasing a rear 3rd and am told it had 4.56 gears and the factory LED from an 06. It's about 2 hours drive so hoping to get some help identifying before I go.

Just wondering if anyone can confirm it is 4.56 gears and meant for a taco with the 8.4 rear?

    Thanks

Get a sharpie, mark the pinion flange and housing, mark the output and housing.

Rotate the pinion and count how many times it passes its mark until the output returns to its mark.

If you turn the pinion 4 and 1/2 turns, it's a 4.56. About 4 and 1/4 would probably be 4.30 gear.

Thanks for the suggestion. I would be doing this once I got there to confirm and have asked the seller if tjey will do this but I am trying to see if there is a way based on the identification numbers to see before hand to avoid the 2hr drive if it's wrong based on the picture or their counting.

If they could send you a video of the quick process, it would be clear.

Also I think you can count teeth, but I just spin them.

Good luck, wish I could find 4.56 gear sets for my truck (at a reasonable price).

Curious about Motiv 4.56 gears also?

Ran motive 4:56 in my 98 Tacoma with a power trax locker for about 80k without any issues. Still have the 3rd in storage after I removed it when the frame rotted out. No complaints on the motives.
