The US exchange rate is killer for anything coming in from down south. By the time you factor in shipping, and exchange it's usually the same or cheaper buying at home.

I've read mostly good things about the Bilstein 5100 setup, and for my needs, I think it's near perfect. It's my daily driver that will see some light offroading in the future once I find a newbie program to learn the ropes. The Bilstein's are designed to use existing OEM coils, they have the variable height so I can choose the lift, which is only going to be moderate, more leveling than lifting, ish... I think, maybe, you know... It also fits my budget and lifestyle.

As you say, somethings work well, some don't, some need this or that, some work great with minimal input, some need extra work and parts. I've been reading the threads, like I said, rabbit hole!

    Thanks for the feedback

Just my .02, I think the setup your choosing is a great choice for your needs. 5100's give you a moderate lift that will look and perform better than stock. I have read and noted different lift setups done to different Tacoma’s. Expensive replacement coilovers, upper control arms, rear shocks and leaf packs are great for those with no budget. Your choice for upgraded Bilstein’s and a rear 1" block sounds great. The Bilstein 5100's will make your suspension better than most stocks Tacoma's except the Pro. I think you decided that a front spacer was not what you wanted and spending more for a lift is a much better choice. If you have no budget it is easy to get a block and spacers lift if you stay on pavement and maintained dirt roads. When it comes to the rear end you asked about blocks and heard the potential issues. I learned something new as well. The add a leaf is great way to add extra payload vs the 1" block. If you plan on carrying a lot in the back a replacement leaf pack would be better for overall payload. Like HeyWannaTaco said 5100's all around are a perfect upgrade. Now you know and now you can enjoy your upgrade choice.

    Now I want 5100's and a AAL!

Yeah, I'm pretty sold on this setup. There was another new guy on the site who recently did his and he was very happy with it. It's affordable and within the realm of possibility hopefully within the year. I'm not in a rush and been spending a lot of money on other truck stuff. It's a Tacoma, I can get started with it as is, and learn from there. Got some great skids for it, they're going on this weekend!
