If you can't buy it OTC practically anywhere that sells basic auto parts and lubricants in N America, it's boutique.

The plan for multiple drain/fills is a good one. Quite likely 2 or maybe 3 times will have it in great shape.

Quite doubtful you'll feel any differences in behavior, but that's good. And you'll know it's got plenty of fresh.

Your '12 has a temp output for the trans. A scanguage II would be a good investment for many things, including monitoring of trans temps. Important to know if you tow or off road very much.

Good to know, I could have sworn it was rtv. I've already done four drain/fills though, so I doubt I'll need to remove it anytime soon.

All three of my trucks shift perfect after doing this. Driving about 30 miles between each one should have the fluid good and circulated.

I flushed mine at 60k and did drain and fill every 30k after that. Never had any issues. The flush is expensive af though.

    Old thread I know.
Is there no harm in mixing ws/non synthetic with say valvoline - a synthetic?

I did a full flush at 160k through my local Toyota Dealership. Mine was shifting a little rough into 2nd gear and overdrive. After the flush it shifts way better now. It was pricey as to be expected going through the stealership (about $400), but to me it was worth it.

I did a full flush a few weeks ago at 152k miles. Valvoline Maxlife full synthetic and a Wix filter kit. It shifts a lot better and even idles and runs better than before.

It should be good to go another 50-60k. IMO it’s well worth the money and effort.

those stories are mostly just that, urban folklore like the vanishing hitchhiker or razor blades in apples. New fluid is good

I just flushed my 2015 with 88,000 miles. I used Maxlife and the following screen filter and gasket kit:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M6WH9JR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The truck shifts great and I’m very happy I did it. I ended up using 16 quarts of MaxLife, overkill but i recently bought the truck and wanted to make sure that I did a complete flush, plus I bought gallon jugs and wanted to do more than just 12 quarts. I flushed/exchanged 2 quarts at a time. I had my wife start and stop the truck. Very easy process.

I’ve done pan drops followed by a flush and fluid exchange on all my vehicles in the past after a pan drop, never had a problem.

That kit looks just like the Wix one that I used from Amazon.

It was a good kit, I like that it had a rubber or rubber-like gasket instead of a cork gasket as there’s a chance that the cork could crack in the box if it’s folded over to many times. A lot of folks say it’s not worth changing out the mesh filter, but why not, you need a new gasket if you do a pan drop and these kits are about the same price of just ordering a gasket. Also, when I removed the filter a good amount of fluid dropped out of the valve body.
