Weight? I have not officially weighed it. We used thinner plywood everywhere that wasn't structural. It is heavy, I can move it alone, pick it up and put it in truck but definitely easier with the wife lending a hand. In all honesty, I could probably throw a few things out to lighten it up but I like to have a few luxuries while I cook. The three drawers on the left are just light weight plastic utencil trays. The stove is on sliders (might not do this if I did it again) and the two compartments at the bottom stow all pots and pans, fuel, towels and some food stuff.

Thanks for the heads up on those two websites for the stoves, I will check them out.

Tent cot (same from a few posts above), plenty of water, wood, and food. Photo from Joshua Tree a week ago.

If we're talking backpacking, I've got a small tent just large enough for me and my stuff.

Jason - You western folks sure have some pretty country to hang in. Joshua Tree has been on my list for years but, as soon as I hit west Texas, I start finding places I want to explore - haven't had enough time to get past AZ and UT yet but we're working on it. Thanks for posting.

@huachuca Though not as pretty, if you ever make it to the Tucson area, hit me up. We've got Saguaro National Park and the Pusch Ridge area with plenty of rugged trails. Also, some of the best chunks of the Arizona Trail run through here. https://aztrail.org/ Southern AZ can't compete with the Grand Canyon but we try!

That's most generous of you Jason and I may very well take you up on the offer. Actually, you don't have to sell me on southern AZ as I spent over about fifteen months at Fort Huachuca in 69-70 and roamed all over the area. Also, a few years back, a couple we're close friends with retired to the Tuscon and joined a jeep club so we stop to visit with them from time to time. Thanks for the map and link - I actually recalled some of the info presented there.

Probably won't convince the missus, but I use this setup with a tarp, my tonneau cover and my trekking poles for camping.20190926_180413.jpg

Just built this during quarantine down time. Not a ton of head room but much better than a tent because i have a real mattress lol. Its also awesome when its super windy or rainy or snowing because its quiet inside compared to a RTT or regular tent.

Its a little under 7 6'8?. I would recommend this size or bigger! those 3ft or 4ft are pretty unless imo unless you mount them for your tailgate.
