Very nice furniture-quality build and finish. Any problems with the surfaces that are exposed to the sun?

So after reading the info and seeing just what it's going to take to remove the useless baggage I thought to myself,
"you know, those 'ol seats and headrests aren't so bad after all.

I decided the platform route was the way to go.
The base sat directly on the seat hinges and seat cushion and was perfectly level.
Used 3/4" ply and made 90 degree corner legs with a full length stringer to eliminate flex.

Several interior storage mods to my 2001 tundra with about 100 hours of work and about 200 ounces of coffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Gearing up for some alone time in the wilderness!

    Raised console height

Removed rear (sucker) seats and made storage area with drawers

Added a pullout (reversible) camp table

    Nice and neat...

    Or Distressed?

Made drawers out of wood putty, glue, and brads...and some pieces of wood. Painted with 87 coats of primer, 102 coats of rhino liner.

Hid the fire extinguisher under the driver's seat so if I need it in a pinch, I'll have to remember first where it is...

Hidden compartment for (guns) or really skinny person.

Added carpet, eye bolts for storage bin tie down points (or foreplay), and spray painted the carpet because I'm an idiot and didn't buy black auto carpet like I should have. Also...notice the hidden gun/smuggler compartment...neither did anyone else.

    Final view on driver side

    Final view on passenger side

    Few more pics...

Finally, need to figure out what type of hardware to add...thoughts?!

Thanks everyone for all the good ideas and encouragement. Looking forward to testing everything out soon and will update after field testing..

Anybody else with an AC that has a dog..

I need to devise a way (already made my basic platform) for my dog to be easily able to jump up into the back seat. It’s getting harder and harder for him as my build progresses and my ride height increases.

I’m thinking some kind of fold out step- anybody gone down this road yet?

I think I've seen a ramp, but that might have to be too long to work in this situation. I might be in a similar boat soon.

Made my platform finally. The dogs really appreciate it and they can finally see where we are going.

I am starting to think a ramp might be good for my dog as well. I don’t know where I would store the ramp in the truck when driving around. I have the quad cab, so I have a small bit of space. But the dog back seat cover extends up the back of the front seat which I like. It does make it a pain to get into anything on the floor when the dog is in the back seat.

once I get my GFC I will probably need a ramp for the tailgate anyway.

    @James710

I wanted a ramp for my pup after we found out that he had a large cyst on his kidney that could burst from too much activity (jumping in and out of the truck). I made a ramp that folds in half and stores under the platform. here is what I camp up with. (please ignore all the dog hair) the ramp can also be used on the tailgate.

Let me know if you have any questions about how its built. Building a folding ramp that can support a 70 lb husky proved to be somewhat tricky.

This is what I’m talking about, awesome!

it looks like it’s hinged in the middle and slides underneath?

Yup exactly. I had some issues with the hinges being able to hold it in the open position. I added some angle iron that extend past the hinges so that when its open it doesn't let it over extend

Ok here is mine, wanted to go back to stock if needed so didn't want to remove seats, drill holes, or other modifications that could not be easily undone. Also wanted the platform to not sag under weight so used a piece of half inch plywood for the base. The front floor joist if you will is a piece of pine that I notched for the driveline hump, first pic. Wanted the Joist to be able to stand on it's own even though it's not bolted to anything so added L brackets to hold it up, 2nd pic. Have Velcro on top of the floor joist and bottom of the plywood so they connect together but can be detached for removal. The one attachment to the truck I did do was Velcro next to the center buckle receptors on the back console (highest points on console) . Then on the bottom of the plywood, this ties the plywood down in the back and provides stability for the whole platform as the plywood is connected in the front to the joist. Plywood also has scrap trackmat siliconed to the bottom for leveling. Added the cut down track mat to the top and have the Sterlite containers underneath 3rd pic. Probably will do the velcro across the back between the two seats like someone else on here did (good idea imho) . Track mat is just floating on there currently will see how it goes may have to attach it to the plywood. I think that's it, really appreciate all the ideas posted on this thread, thanks.

Did you have to cut any off the Bedrug mat to get it to fit between the back of the seats and the back of the cab?

Yep, I cut 4 inches off, used some of the scrap for leveling. Probably could of been a little less but it goes back far enough and I wanted it to be ez in and out. Plywood is 18 inches wide. Both are 48 inches long. If you are making something similar I would suggest cutting off say 2 inches and see how it works for you, you can always cut more off.

My revision (after removing the seats and putting in a utility panel, along with soundproofing and open cell foam in the vents):

I changed out one of the DeWalt toolboxes for a Sterilite drawer. I found I was always having to move the seat forward, take whatever was on the Bedrug off and put it on the passenger seat, pull the toolbox out, and then repeat in reverse order to put it away.
