Toyota expects you to do this from time to time. The gearbox is designed to survive some grinding and mistakes.

It’s not ideal to grind your gears, but not a problem if it’s infrequent.

There is a device on your clutch called a " accumulator " with just 5000 miles I removed mine, it makes Clutch actuation much more positive. there are several threads on here about accumulator delete, if you are a long time Manuel shift guy this could help.

So... Not to sound rude but multiple people have started threads about grinding gears so that leads me to wonder if they have ever driven a manual prior to their Tacoma. The bottom line is if you have never grinded a gear than you have never driven a manual for an extended period of time. It isn’t ideal but the shit happens.

It’s all good man. Don’t stress about it.

If you can work (safely), you should work. It helps keep the chaos at bay, and keep some taxes flowing to the government as they go on a spending bender.

The hand-outs are needed for the people who truly can’t right now, like restaurant workers etc. I am still working full time, but the Covid Shamers are out in force on my morning commute. They don’t realize all the things I’m doing for them, because they are idiots, but that’s fine.

Your driver’s ed car wasn’t a manual was it? o_O

Ours was, and it was old. Everyone grinded that thing, even our coach. Don’t worry, yours will be fine.

It happens occasionally, even to the seasoned manual pilot. Don't fret it.
Now, when you hear a really load BANG! and it no longer motivates, fret it.

I hadn't driven my car in awhile but hopped in it yesterday for a spin. Grinded 3rd gear two different times when speed shifting so my timing was a bit off but no big deal.

Is this your first manual trans? Everyone with a manual has grinded gears at some point. Nothing to worry about. Unless you're doing it constantly then maybe it's time to look for an automatic instead

    OMG LANGUAGE KID!

Long story short: I lived in Maine about 4 years ago for about 9 months... I rented a 01 Subaru forested with about 180k miles... that pos car started every day during the winter.... and it was a bad winter... so for me Subaru has my respect...

It’s because they are made in Japan. If they were made in Mexico or Texas they’d be better quality.
