By default, I think you're supposed to power it via an add-a-fuse. But if you instead connect power into the same circuit that trips the relay, you power the camera on demand. I could be wrong as I'm recounting from my install and experimentation several months ago.

Here's the whole thing. The camera only gets powered when you flip the switch, which also energizes the relay.

And when you flip the switch to rear (without shifting into reverse), the orange HU wire gets held HIGH from pin 4 in the switch below. Note: Diode is reverse biased (or blocking).
And when you flip the switch to front (without shifting into reverse), the orange HU wire gets held HIGH because now the diode is forward biased and allows current to flow from pin 5 to pin 4.

NOTE: This is for the 2020 setup.

    Does that help?

    Ye, Thank you very much...

After looking closer on the schematic, it shows that pins 9 & 10 on a 30 pin connector that does not exist on the Tacoma.
And the video interrupt does not correlate to pin 12 (V+ on N26 -24 pin )

So Front Cam (or other) is powered only when SPDT switch allows it. Fantastic. I had that hunch, due to cam staying ON always will heat n degrade it...

For clarity to help other people, which wire did you use off your single or dual switch to send power to the camera? My install was so long ago I do not remember :)

What do you mean doesn't exist? On the ABC harness? Here's what I have
    upload_2020-3-3_10-0-25.jpg

And the pinout number convention I used. I couldn't find any part number for these connectors to find what the actual pinout convention is supposed to be, so I made my own.

Also as a note, I haven't installed this on my tacoma yet. I'm working on making an improvement on this design, soon to be ready.
This is all information I gather from install instructions (from ABC or youtube).

This is point in the video where he connects 2 greens and 1 red (for camera power) together.

Ahh, that might be where the confusion is. My setup is for the 2020, should have mentioned that earlier. The 2016-2019 have a different setup as shown in these images.

That helps, thanks! Looks like I had my numbering scheme reversed. I was basing Pin 1 on the plug and not the receptacle.

The connectors are numbered as if looking into, not from behind...

Got mine installed today on a 2020 TRD grille, thanks to @Toyotako for the camera suggestion and was able to replicate the bracket he had made with a small strip of aluminum, with a little plastidip it looks great and nice and hidden.

Just did my install today, quite happy with the quality of the Natika camera that everyone suggested. I do wish the park lines were adjustable as they aren’t wide enough to accurately show you where your truck would drive. Was looking at a Parkvision camera that says adjustable park lines for wider vehicles, which would be awesome.

On a side note, if you use the RCA extension cable that comes with the kit the Natika camera uses the same black connector so it’s a very easy exchange without pulling out your head unit or pulling wires again. I used the RCA cable that came with the Natika camera, if you use the cable that comes from ABC you will have more freedom to change cameras as it has an RCA connector on both ends.

It should be noted that if you connect the red wire from the RCA extension cable to the two green wires to power your camera, then you don’t have to connect the red wire on the other end by the camera to your battery or fusebox. You still have to connect the ground on the camera side though. If you hook up both sides of the red wire you’re probably asking for fuses to blow or something lol.

Glad you got it installed successfully. No system is ever perfect to fit the needs of every person but I do really enjoy and use mine a lot. Granted mostly for parking, but I was up at Hollister Hills OHV in CA in my son’s ‘99 TJ and I would have loved to have it there when you are climbing 6 foot moguls!

Ran into some TW guys there as well

Has anyone tried to run it into a dvr type system for dash cam style recordings?

Has anyone had the issue where it works when the accessory mode is ON, but when the truck is running with the engine on, it doesn't?

When I put the truck into accessory mode (Engine is OFF), everything works as expected, front and rear camera both show up. However, when the engine is ON, nothing works. Even switching into reverse, the rear camera doesn't show up. Shutting off the truck and then back into accessory mode does not fix the issue; the rear camera will not show up when switching into reverse. Even with the toggle switch disconnected, will not work.
The only way for me to fix this issue, is to remove the ABC harnesses completely, plug in the factory harnesses and the put the truck into accessory mode. Once I do that, rear camera functionality will be restored.
And if I plug the harness back in and go back into accessory mode, everything works. It's only when I turn the truck ON and the engine is ON, does things break.

The first problem I had was that the pin for the orange wire on the 28 pin connector wasn't seated in all the way and was loose. I figured that out after a while. But I can't seem to solve this issue. It seems like something with the ABC harnesses isn't right. But I can't figure out what. Those harnesses are just a passthrough with a few taps coming off of them (except for the rear camera).

    Any ideas?
