Just ordered mine today -- for the same reason, seeing the immediate trail ahead. Or the garage.. Also ordered DMM.

 

I am Obviously biased, but in daily use... these two mods are the most useful mods in my truck. The front camera even though it isn’t a necessity it just makes it so much easier to park everywhere, and obviously tremendously helpful off road. And the DMM, my phone and tablet are mounted o. It every time I drive...

Would this work as a secondary backup camera on the back of a trailer, instead of using it as front facing?

 

Ahhh, it was because of the front camera. Any suggestions which front camera to go with since I havr to purchase separately? Goingnon a pro grill with sensor/garnish.

 

As long as you're ok with selecting the "Trailer Cam" manually, I don't see why not. The RFCC controller doesn't really care where your camera is located.

 

I think most people (me included) are using this one.

Yeah, thats totally fine. Ideally, I would like to be able to switch between the truck backup cam and the overland trailer backup cam when I'm offroad and trying to maneuver around without hitting things.

 

Your regular OEM reverse cam will come on automatically, just as it does now. When you go into forward drive, it will switch to the other (normally front) cam for 30 seconds, or until you reach 12mph. But you can go to either cam by hittng "Mode" twice on your steering wheel. Then up the up/down buttons on steering wheel to toggle between cameras. Holding the up/down button for several seconds "locks" the selected camera on.
