Same here love them Scouts but I am also a sucker for them old Transtar COE. Has something to do with my childhood watching the movie "Convoy" in German.:D:D

My friend lost his restored Scout in the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA along with all his possessions and motorcycles, vehicles. Clothes on his person was all he had.

I have had 2 scouts, the last a '71 Scout II that I had for 13 or 14 years. I learned a lot about working on vehicles because it needed it. Sold it and bought a Toyota and forgot a lot of what I learned.

My 1st 4X4 was a 1968 IH Scout. It was a beast with a 392 V8. It had a 5 speed transmission with double low, a hand throttle like a tractor and the skid plate started at the front axle and went to the rear axle. Frame rail to frame rail. It was slick on the bottom.

It got about 6 mpg, but was a pulling machine.

But I still think the Power Wagons were the most badass 4X4's

The Power Wagon my dad drove 1944-1946 from France to Germany and back to France.

I can't imagine enduring something of that nature. Losing everything you have and starting over would be very tough.

Those Power Wagons are bad ass! A neighbor a few blocks away has one that's been rotting in his driveway for years...
