Thanks! I hate that it doesn’t get used as much as it did back then. But, I was a kid in ‘09 so I had lots of free time. I honestly can’t imagine life without this truck.

I understand that, I still have my 2001 Tacoma, it doesn't get driven as much any more either, but i dont know that i will ever be able to sell it. Its sitting in the garage on jack stands right now, working on control arm bushings and tie rods.

Funny thing is, Saturday when you posted that, a customer of mine at work asked me about it and asked if I ever get a bunch of people asking to buy it when I’m out and about. Hasn’t happened in years. Later that day some dude approached me at the gas station and asked if I would sell it.
I do have a magic number and it starts with a 2. ;)

So yesterday I decided to tackle a little bit of rust I saw in the firewall near the pinch weld.. the area we normally cut out when we tub the fender wells to clear larger tires. The rust hole was about the size of a quarter so I cut out a 3x3” square. It ended up looking like a 6x3 and when I started to patch that I started melting metal that I didn’t think was rusty. Well.. here’s where I’m at.

Finished the rust repair. Similar to tubbing the firewall. This time I welded the patch panels back on from the inside instead of the outside. Just made more sense considering I would have had to work around the frame if I was patching on the outside.
It’s not perfect but the silicone and undercoating should keep it sealed up.

Currently daily driving it because the Tundra is in the shop.
I also just found out that Cooper considers the STT pro to be an all terrain. LOL.

Started on the flat bed today. The picture of the maroon truck is one I found online that I’m using as inspiration.

Cant wait to see what you come up with! I've been kicking around a flat bed that can be extended for house support truck duties.

Best part about having 2 trucks is one can be useless as long as the other still has its man card.

Been there done that with the full size truck and an 18ft car hauler LOL!! It is annoying people still want me to help them move despite having a "small" truck with holes in the bed and shocks poking through them. I want to build a nice high clearence flatbed that doesn't look totally stupid, minamilist even, yet I can strap all kinds of shit to it and have an extension I can slide in using hitch pins when I have to go pick up big stuff from home depot and things like that as most of the trucks duty is still suburban house support vehicle.

Today I “modified” the gas tank with a BFH so I could I drop the frame 2”, got the frame fully welded, tacked in the side extensions on the front right behind the cab. I cut all the upright supports and finished my chop saw blade doing so. Then I decided A. the upright supports were too tall and B. I can ditch one and use it as a 45* to extend the extensions.

Alright made a little progress. Decided that 14" tall bed rails would look goofy AF on such a small truck.
Cut the 12" vertical posts in half. Got the angled extensions welded in and the posts tacked in. Got the upper bed rails mostly cut.

Trying to figure out what to do with the hard angle at the very back. I may take that vertical post out and make an angled post.

Just a thought, but think about cutting the last post in half and angling the top tube into it.

BTW love your build been following for a while.

Thanks! I really appreciate the input. To be honest I’ve been second guessing the look of this whole thing after today. But, regarding your idea, that’s about what I’m thinking. I would throw out that rear most post and cut a new one that would angle towards the front. Then cut the top rail at an angle so they go down and to the back at the same angle.
It would look like this.. (very crude drawing but y’all get the idea).

Got the left side finished out. Have a few more welds to cover and need to figure out how I want to cap the ends. But I’m happy with how it’s come out so far.
