yes. Ive watched this Timmy video twice. I have learned a great deal of the stuff I've fixed from Timmy the toolman. Thank you for all the info. Def going to do my research and get everything I need before I start. I have all the basic tools. Now I need to get the technical tools. Only one I have right now is the otc tension belt gauge. Tools tools tools.

It was my first time doing it, and it took a good 10 hours or so based on those steps, with the parts and tools there. Would have taken ~8 hours if I hadn't had an issue with my camshaft seals. Wrote up the story here: https://adventuretaco.com/yes-were-...belt-and-more-in-two-trucks-at-the-same-time/

By all means, shout if you have questions. It was a fun job, and not difficult, despite the length. Esp. with the step-by-step, it's actually quite straight forward.

@REDeye jedi , I too believe in the Aisin kits. They should come with belt, water pump idler pulleys. Change everything in there so you don't have to do it again. I was lucky. I knew a mechanic that installed my Aisin kit for $300.00 bucks, or maybe it was $200. I can't remember. I didn't know any better, and I don't think he replaced my cam seals. Like everyone here on TW says, Pay once, cry once.

That's the aircabinman kit. Same kit I got when I did mine.

    It's 100$% legit. Great kit.

This is the one time I broke my "don't buy critical shit from ebay or Amazon" rule. Took a lot of research, and a lot of recommendations from users here.

Yea that's a good one, my post was about ebay ones in general though.. there's a ton of them on there and some of them are way cheap claiming to be genuine parts

For sure. The aircabinman kits are the exception that proves the rule in my case.

I about throw up in my mouth when I see posts like "I bought this balljoint kit from Amazon for $40."

@turbodb, looking at the pic of "you" in post #23. Me trying to get into that spot would cause me sooooo much pain. If I ever attempt this job, I'm going to have to reach out for some help. I use to love working on my vehicles, for the satisfaction of a job well done, and saving a shit ton of money.

@REDeye jedi , you have one other option to try, before you buy all the specialty tools. Reach out to other TW members in your area, and see if you can get some experienced help, or borrow the specialty tools you'll need. Just a thought.

Yeah, I too will be tackling this job soon. Taking it a step further because other parts are pretty old and I want to upgrade anyway. So on top of the usual timing belt stuff I am going to replace the radiator with an aftermarket from Koyo and install and aftermarket trans-cooler (likely same as timmy). Gathering up all the parts lists and tools I will need.

So wonderful to have so many knowledgeable and experienced folks to learn from.

Take your time and have fun with it OP :)

I am at 245,000 on the first Timing belt One of these days I won`t have more critical things to get done first.

I think I bought all the parts when I got the truck with 125,000

I like this Idea. I have almost all the tools except the 1.) Harmonic balance holder 2.)Cam pulley holder 3.)5 ton bearing separate 4.)crankshaft seal kit. Everything I have to make this job work. Do you suggest I just post a thread asking for anyone in the area?

Quick question. So I'm trying to look for rentals for 3 of the 4 tools I don't have. At Oreileys, They have tools, but not sure if they would work so let me list them and if you could compare and tell if they'd work. Id greatly appreciate it.
https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...ls-evertough-timing-gear-puller/67015/4700239 in lieu of the 5-ton bearing puller.
https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...gh-harmonic-balancer-puller-kit/67007/4700233 in lieu of Harmonic Damper Pulley Holding Tool
and not sure if this one would work but https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...earing-race-and-seal-driver-set/67034/4700252 in lieu of Crankshaft and Camshaft Seal Tool Kit.

Exactly that. It can't hurt to see if someone that lives close to you will lend a hand. Cheaper that buying tools, and you get to meet other great TW members in the process. Worst case scenario, is no one will reply to you request for help.
