Researching skid plates: can you really get your oil filter off through that little porthole? Or is it easier just to take the whole skid plate off?

I know it’s an old thread, but anyone else reading this, I’d recommend ditching those bolts anyways and getting a standard hex bolt.

You mangle a hex head on a rock, you can put some pliers on it still to take it off. You mangle an Allen bolt on a rock, gonna be a bit more of a pita to get it off.

Was thinking the EXACT SAME THING. Mostly I was disappointed that the bolts aren't recessed. Not 100% sure if that is as much of an issues as I think it is but can't go wrong with zinc plated grade 8 hex

They'll get you on shipping though.. Put a $32 order in yesterday. Shipping came out to $30 when I got the receipt this morning :eek:

I've always had good luck with them, maybe because of where I live. It's never more than $15 for me. It is a bummer they can't calculate it until after you checkout, but I'm ok with it because I still love them.

Yeah that's essentially my only complaint with them. They must be the only website around that cant calculate a shipping cost ahead of time haha
