Does anyone know if a 2017 Nissan Frontier crew cab short bed softopper would fit a 3rd gen Tacoma short bed? Looking to buy one used. Just don’t know if that one will fit.

I doubt it, but shoot an email into softopper or give them a call to get a for sure answer.

My Softopper is proving to be an excellent storage area/pantry. The tailgate serves as a countertop for meal prep. We roll up the sides for easy access in the day and drop them down at night to protect the cooler, food, and keep the dew off our chairs and gear. The kids like to climb in for a shady place to sit & snack. The new awning room is our bedroom and we put a tarp out for the well-traveled area between awning, meal prep, outdoor seating area.

2000x2500, the medium size. It’s roughly 6.5 x 8+. We fit three Coleman vita across the inside. I’m thinking about those disc-o-bed pop up bunks for the kids.

Finished with the bulk of my build out today. I decided to do a conversion style setup so I could not only have better security for my gear, but also more room in the vic when I am staying in the same AO for an extended period of time. I will be traveling the country in it once things settle down and doing a lot of back country exploration so wanted something that would be light weight, versatile, and be a space I can spend large amounts of time in should the weather get nasty or what not. Building around the Softtopper was a breeze, even without a jigsaw, tough I can't say the same for the damn bed liner. All that is left is running the interior lighting, and adding the locking clasps to make sure everything can be secured (I may have forgotten to double check measurements when installing the railing for the upper platform... So gotta figure something out for that. Gotta love it when you overlook something simple:annoyed:)

When in “Safari mode” what do you do with the front window? Lol
Remove it? Or tuck it up somehow?

Hey guys and gals, quick question.

I have a 2001 Double Cab 5ft bed and found a basically new 3rd gen softopper for sale locally. I know there was some changes but not sure if they would affect mounting it to mine. thanks

I would worry more about the width of the 1st gen tacoma beds vs the 3rd gen Tacomas.

Also dont know if the 1sr gens have the utility track. So the mounting hardware might be different.

Not to concerned with the mounts I can source ones I had previously my 96. The width thing does concern me, but I do have fiberglass bedsides which give me a much much wider flat mounting surface. I can't find specific dimensions for the softopper sizes based on generation.

I can get some measurements for you. I've got a 3ed gen topper. Anything you might want?
