Benchrest you say? Isn't there a minimum age requirement for that?
(nice looking rifle though) What caliber?

I’m so close to doing the custom paint on this one. Three different paints on this one. Hoping to be masking of tomorrow evening for first coat of paint Friday morning and target Monday for a wet sand sand and clear coat.

Not a min age, but a min budget. It starts at too much, and goes up from there.

Thanks. This is a Ronnie Long built 30br.

Sorry for the joke. I have been shooting long range for a decade or so, and most of the guys joke about when they are too old to shoot positional or even prone they will switch to benchrest. Luckily my back still has no problem with those positions so I am not there yet. That said, it is funny how all of the 6br variants have been super popular in our sport for the last few years.

Gotcha. I take my hat off to the 1000 yard guys. I cant do it. I like to shoot, and there are just a hand full of places that you can shoot 600+ within 5 hours of here. But there are dozens of 100-200 within 2 hours.

I definitely hear you on the shortage of 1k or longer ranges. There is ETTS and Jacob's Plain, but they are both membership based. There is North East Texas Tactical that is just about 30 miles East of downtown Dallas, and they go out to 1500 yards. I need to make it out there to shoot. I am heading up to B-Tactical in Caddo Mills this weekend to pick up a new toy, and if I am lucky I will get a little range time fit in there. They are great people. Their range goes out to 300 yards, and is set up pretty decent for what I do.

Best of the west is outside of Austin, 1000 yards.

Skids used to be flat. Now they’re all pretty concaved.

I wanted to remove the skids to straighten them, repaint, and since there’s no wheeling, this is the perfect time.

Turns out it also allowed me to see that my inner CV boots are torn, as is my driver side steering boot. Grease and oil everywhere. FML.

Very well. I got them used from @dwaltdtx, and I think he got them from a member here before me.
