Hello members, One of my first upgrades to my new ride is going to be installing the
5100 Bilstein Shocks I purchased for the rear. Even though these shocks on the truck now
only have 80K miles on them, and feel pretty good- I'm going to swap for the new shocks in the back first and then do the front later on. This truck came with the fiberglass tounneu cover for the bed. So it adds a bit more weight to the rear end. My plans include hauling a motorcycle trailer w/ 2 bikes, My 2017 Suzuki Vstrom 650 along with my sons 2011 Yamaha Stryker Street Brawler.
The weight of both bikes without the trailer is approx 1100 lbs. My truck came with the tow package and tow gearing w/ class 3 hitch receiver. I noticed the rear bumper has a round
recepticle for the trailer harness to plug into. Is this (pigtail) a Toyota item or can it be purchased elsewhere for less $$$ ?

Also, I don't currently have a service manual but was interested in what the torque specs would be for the upper and lower shock mount bolts ? Same as OEM ? Does lower bushing need to be
lubed to prevent squeeking ? I have silicone grease if need be.

    Thanks in advance jake :burnrubber:

You just need a 7pin to 4 pin plug for the trailer, can get that anywhere. I lube the bushings. Don’t have the torque specs for the lower mounting bolt.

Thanks Steve, I have a service manual on order and should be here in a few more days. Would this 7 pin connector
be something I can hard wire right to the trailer harness rather than a daisy chain connection ?
Do you know what the pin out diagram looks like for this plug ? That info would help in finding it on line or from a vendor.

    Thanks for your help. jake

Here is what it looks like. Harbor freight, Nothern, Uhaul, Walmart carry them. Mine was like $15 at Northern. I’d just use the adapter a lot of trailers are now just coming with the 7 pin. What would be cool is the 3rd gens connected has both the the 7/4 pin , wonder if you could get one of those and swap it. image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

I did see this type adapter on the eTrailer site. They even have one that has 8' of sheathed
harness to tap into the trailer harness and then goes into the 7 pin connector with a wire
spring strain relief. That whole thing was only about $30. I may get that one.

The red one is cool I bet it lights up...
