ah crap youre in final cut no Premiere. okay..

Uhhh can you right click on the vocal track clip, any one of them doesn't matter and go to preferences or about and show me that screen. I haven't looked at final cut in a long time.

But whatever it is doing its making your vocal track stereo and you just need it mono. Im not sure how the tracks layout works exactly but this could likely mean you need all the vocals on one lane and the music on their own since they are stereo.

Both of them (vocal and music) was on audio, I highlighted all the vocal and switched it to "Dual Mono" Let me try that and see if that helps any. I appreciate the help brother

hmm so that to me says that it must only work with stereo tracks. Dual mono could help for sure. But might not if for whatever reason the left and right still cancel.

Curious, when you record with the mic what do the meter look like? Do they match or is the left and right slightly different as you talk?

They match with the mic plugged in

Okay cool. Well ideally if you could(i know you can in premiere and avid) I'd end up taking that track which would come off the camera as a stereo file, but really is just dual mono, and separating it so that I'd only take the L side and delete the ride side. Then put the left over mono track in a track that is panned center.

Not sure if you can do that or not..I think you can but again been way to long since I've used final cut.

Dual mono didn't work. When I take the file off of the video clip its just one file on my time line. I'll keep playing around with it and trying everything

I also have after effects. Anyway to exactly check it in after effects?

Thank ya sir. Final cut pro. Here's my latest edit of just a recap of the year. Same audio, just threw in some different cuts from this year.

Glad I found this thread. Im just starting to get into it as well with hopes of eventually learning enough and getting myself to a place where I can make a little bit of additional income with it.

Final Cut, Davinci Resolve, Premier Pro --- which do you guys like to use best? I just upgraded to the M1 Mac so I am pretty much limited to Final Cut, and Davinci since Premier Pro is not optimized for Apple's M1 chip yet. But would still like to hear what people like or what might be more beginner friendly to start with.

Been a long time, but 8 years ago when I got my LC I went to the off road park in PA. to try out our vehicles. My friend has a 3rd gen 4runner. It's not even in HD but I learned my Final Cut skills doing short vids like this...

So I just started using an Insta 360 one x camera, and it is really cool, but has a steep learning curve and basically doubles editing time. The cool thing is you always get your shot. I just finished editing this video of my trip to Moab last summer. It took me forever to figure out the 360 footage, you can see it when the shot is beside the RZR.

I used to shoot and edit food videos for a living.
I did all the camera work, lighting and audio.

Heres a video that shows behind the scenes work and footage of my actual work.

That’s a crazy setup, totally not what I would have thought was behind the cameras. I think my biggest shock was I really thought that was someone’s home kitchen :boom:

Those Irish cupcakes looked really good!

That overhead setup is what worked for us without having to use bulkier setups with poles or any other gear. When I first started there in 2016 I didn't have any "professional" experience so everything I learned I did on the job.

It was without a doubt the most fun job I've ever had to date. My manager in that job encouraged creativity to the max for me and always said "If you need anything, let me know!" And if I ever asked for any gear or cameras he had it on my desk 2-3 days later via Amazon. He's an incredible dude and I owe that man so much for all of his generosity towards me and my family while I worked for him during those 3 years.

It was actually a film studio that my manager and his family built within an enormous warehouse. There was office spaces in front of the warehouse on the first and second floors and they built the kitchen with the soul purpose of making food videos. They actually manufactured products in the back of the warehouse building.

They had a Shane Hurlbut come in to give professional and creative advice before they actually built it. It was a long process but the managers made it happen.

We had an entire creative team. 2 chefs, pastry and savory. A photographer and myself the, videographer. All I did was work with cameras, lighting and audio, yelled cut, action but my god it was an awesome job. I honestly can't say that enough. I honestly feel that of all the warehouse and office employees there I had the best job of all!!!

The chefs made incredibly delicious recipes which we filmed on almost a weekly basis. All in all I shot and edited well over 200 food recipe videos for them.

I learned so much while I was there.

    And those cupcakes were delicious!!!!
