I have family in FL and they do not have the same restrictions to movement as we do here. We are going on our 4th week of House Arrest (Stay-Home). It is actually helping the amount of cases declining now.

Im laid off and on call which means I put a total of 16 miles on my 17 Tacoma since Ohio locked down.
Being 60 Im staying away from people as much as I can and just staying home. We lost 8 people so far in the Kent - Ravenna area.

Just got back from a Boston-Richmond-Harrisonburg-Boston road trip to get my sister's car from the airport and move her out of school. Ended up being about 1300 miles in 36 hours.

I've been WFH for almost a month now, I'm a project engineer for a Construction Management firm in Boston. Putting probably 100 miles on per week between going to the site one day a week and driving around to cure boredom.

As of this week the city has an unofficial "keep your ass at home" request but more importantly my son has health issues so I'm working from home to try to reduce the potential for him.

I too am considered 'High Risk' being 66 so it is a little easier for me as I do have an office in my house that I have been working from for nine years now. I just want Spring to officially come, we have been warm this past week but scheduled for 8-12" of the white stuff this weekend up here in the high country. it won't last long as the ground is thawed out and we will never complain about a wet Spring - gives us less of a fire season to be concerned with.... I just want to drive my new truck - SHEESH

I'll agree with everything you just said except for the wet spring part. We don't need any more flooding!

Understood, I remember spring in that area. I coached at South West State in Marshall, MN back in the middle 90's and hated the spring floods

I'm a few days away from hitting 65 and officially enter the high risk crowd. We put our college on a work from home/ courses online status 3+ weeks ago so I've been working from my den by email, conference calls, Skype, Zoom....whatever is necessary to make it work. I retire (my 2d retirement) at the end of June. I picked up my 2020 Tacoma on February 6th - it's not my daily driver until I retire - and I've got a whopping 824 miles on it. I take it out once a week to pick up meals for my mother-in-law (93) and her best friend (95) t their favorite restaurant. I am really missing it!

Mine is sitting at a closed dealership.
I'll pick it up after they reopen in May.
I had just struck a deal when all hell broke loose. Then I had to see if my commercial work would hold so my guys could stay employed. It held ok, I took a 35% paycut....but I'm still picking up my 2020 OR come hell or high water.

That's great news. You were stressing about whether to get it or not, weren't you?

    Yes....big time.
I had just hired a new guy the week before and some customers were "temporarily suspending" service with my company until things turn around.
So....I took a cut to give it to the guys to make up for any shortcoming, applied for Payroll Relief immediately two days after it was implemented and like everyone else, heard nothing since and probably won't. I looked at it like a scratch off lottery ticket. Small biz always gets shafted.

But my guys are covered, business levels are good.....just may have to actually, for the first time ever, knock on a door or three and chase some work to secure.
I figured, if one were to sit around waiting for things to turn instead of finding ways to forge forward, nothing would ever get done but a whole lot of worrying. "Hope" is not a strategy.
I'm sitting on a bunch of brand new equipment I bought for this year and have offered my time, labor and services for free to help with large scale disinfection for my commercial customers, mainly in Assisted Living and Health Care facilities. Even though that's not what we do. It's been very well received. Helping out beats sitting home and worrying.

Brake rotors can get rusty also if sitting too long. I need to take my wife's car up the local mountain pass and burn the rust off on the way down. she works at home normally so this is an ongoing problem with her car. Once the rust gets to a certain point, it doesn't burn off any more and just gets worse.

I'm glad it worked out. I could tell you really were looking forward to it - but were also focused on keeping your folks employed and the business going. You're a good man!!!

Check on the PPP application - I read somewhere that people had to reapply due to "lost apps" but it was really just that they changed the language on the form. I know people who are getting approvals and dollars are starting to flow. My college was approved for a PPP Loan/grant under the under 500 employees program and it will make a huge difference in our bottom line for the year. I'm retiring and turning it over to a new president - hated that I was looking at burying the budget in my last year after great run. But, like you, we committed not to lay anyone off - kept all of our full time and regular part-time folks on their full pay and benefits. Fu*k the budget - people need the comfort of knowing their jobs are secure.

You are going to love that truck! I got mine just before everything hit the fan and the markets tanked. I had taken some $$ out to pay down the loan a week before the drop. If I had waited, I might not be buying the truck this year.

I’m still having to go to work a few times a week and telework 2 or 3 days, so I’m still logging miles
