Yeah, can be kind of hit or miss as far as delivery times. Their products are super solid... so once they are in you won't regret it, just leave a lot of "buffer" time lol

I ordered my high clearance rear bumper 08/20/2019. Nothing extra, no swing out, no hi lift mount. I was instructed by someone who bought the same bumper to call at one month before estimated delivery date.

I guess they forgot about his bumper and it took twice as long.

I would venture to guess that the leads times vary so much as far as some people getting them soon and others waiting is because they are built in batches. Sometimes your order goes in just before a batch is built and others put in an order right after a batch was just done and have to wait for that product to come back around again. All of the products are built in batches, they are not building one at a time. That would take even longer and they would have every item at a 6 month wait. And if they can they build to have a few in stock for the next few orders that come through to help get them to the next batch run. When I worked there years ago before they got to be the size they are now we built them one at a time and had a 24 week lead time before we would start building it. But that was before Hal bought the company and put a ton of money into it to help production.

Well I guess that make sense and explains the lead time/extra time for any of these small fab shops. I mean it probably doesn't make customers happy that are used to off the shelf products and Amazon Prime next day shipping, but if a small shop is taking orders for stuff and not building till they have the number needed to start the next batch, and then if there are any hiccups with building out that batch (with raw materials, machinery/tools, or labor), then it is going to take long enough that people are going to start questioning if you're going to deliver or not.
If I ran a shop I would strive to under promise/over deliver...just tell them up front that there is a big lead time and even that can shift based on the factors above. I think most shops do that, but then you have a shop like Pelfrey where its popular and suddenly the bottom drops out and all the customers are worried about getting screwed after waiting 6 months for something they thought they were gonna get in 12 weeks.

Just wanted to post some more updates regarding my experience with CBI. I ordered a Front Bumper that came in about a week late from the expected ship date but then ordered a set of CBI sliders that has about a 8 week lead time in about 3 weeks. So they've more than made up as far as lead times goes for me haha.

Anyone else place bumper orders right before this whole Covid-19 stuff hit? I called them and they said it shouldn't affect projected lead times unless the employees start to get sick. Hoping that is really the case seeing as 6 weeks after my 12 week time I am leaving for Korea...

I placed an order for a front aluminum bumper in the first week of december. Quoted me 12 week lead at the time. Going on over 16 weeks now. Emailed tacomabeast two weeks ago since I ordered through them, and they confirmed that it wasn't even in production yet. I just emailed CBI today but I'm not holding my breath. I understand that stuff happens but when you drop 1.7k on a bumper you expect a little bit of customer service/updates.
Also, it seems this is a fairly typical thing with CBI and their bumpers, so I don't get why they can't just quote longer lead times and keep people happy, instead of always missing their delivery windows.

All I can say is be patient, drop any expectations of a time frame, and be happy when your bumper shows up. They’re worth the wait, but you see how the waiting process goes for many people.

Oh totally. Like I said, it's just more an issue of expectations vs reality. They shouldn't quote lead times on bumpers that aren't achievable. If its a 20 week lead time, just shoot straight and tell the customers that. It would save everyone frustration and negative reviews for CBI

Also placed an order for an aluminum front bumper end of November 2020. Still have not received any shipping updates. Last email from 3/15 said it was in the process of being built, but due to current economic conditions they’re short some product materials required to finish the build.

I don't know how much I buy that though. If you browse the forums this seems to be a common thing with them even pre-covid.
And by the way they told me they hoped it would ship mid-April. If it doesn't by then I'm having my bank issue a charge back and they can deal with it. Never buying from CBI again. Its not the lack of quality, but the lack of transparency and horrendous customer service.

Yeah, I'm not saying I believe the excuse either, just relaying what I have gotten as far as communication. Blaming current economic conditions or the pandemic is non-excusable for my company and we required many of the same raw materials that I'm sure CBI uses. Maybe they're working through a large backlog of orders, or they're short staffed, without working there, who knows. An email received on 2/25 said the bumper was estimated to ship first week of March. If I still have not received a tracking number by the end of April, I will be reaching out again for more information and/or seeking ways to get funds back that I submitted in full 5 months ago. The level of poor transparency on lead time is something I have not encountered with any other suppliers of armor/vehicle parts up to now.

Nice read. Was planning to get CBI front and rear bumpers. I think I'll take my business to SSO.

Shit company, shit service, shit fulfillment, great product. As a customer do you really think you need to go through these hoops just to receive a good product? It's 2021, there's a handful of extremely deserving companies that build quality products with similar or better wait times/prices. It's hard to avoid the popularity of "do I need a prinsu" or "which sliders" because we all trust product reputation, but at the end of the day we don't often associate company reputation with product reputation until it's too late and you're wondering where your stuff is or why you can't get a simple response after spending so much money.

From my personal experience, don't give CBI your money, they don't deserve it.

It's been a long time since I posted the original fall-through with @CBI Offroad Fab and I am sorry to see that the same issues are continuing. People ask me all the time who made my sliders, and I always tell them "a company I would never recommend buying from." Friends ask what I think of CBi for their builds, I send them here and give them an honest breakdown of their service. Not a one has made their purchase from them and have had much better service elsewhere.
