For that you could park your truck and engage the parking brake too, or am I missing something?

    Yeah, you are....:burp:
Engaging the parking brake does NOT deactivate the DRL circuit while the engine is ON.

Sounds like this will work on a 2015 as well?

I answered this myself, it does work on the 2015. I would highly recommend not trying to do this without disassembling the lower dash. I wasn't able to disconnect all 4 plugs to remove the harness without disassembling the lower dash. I probably wasted an hour. I have no idea why you'd want to struggle when it takes about 10 minutes to disassemble the lower dash and easily remove the fuse block. This way you can remove the harness and do a nice job with your splicing.

Reference this for how to disassemble the dash:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/05-drl-daytime-running-lights-install-oem.1475/

Super easy. The only thing I'd add, he only shows the two bolts to remove the lower dash. There are also clips on the left and right hand side. Pull straight back on each side and they will release.

I also removed this bracket under the steering wheel. It gave me the clearance for the blinker unit to come out once I folded the fuse block down.

    Here's the harness you want:

I didn’t read the whole thread but came here to say that this mod is pretty much obsolete now, isn’t it? The 2013+ trucks have a stalk that lets you turn DTRL on or off. Just get it from a wrecker and retrofit in your truck, may need to run some more wires but much cleaner overall

I don't think this is obsolete. My truck is a 2015 TRD Sport and has no option to turn off the DTRL. I can turn the marker lights on/off, but nothing to do with DTRL.

That’s what I’m saying tho. For your year, probably just need the different stalk and it’ll be plug and play

Yeah, you're right, I just looked it up. I read this option wasn't available in Canada, so I wont find one in a junkyard here. Maybe I could find one online...

So thinking about it more, I don't think I want the headlight stalk with the extra position. It'll cost me $50 USD to get one shipped to me off eBay, and I don't want to have to scroll through that extra position everytime to turn on/off my headlights. I'm going to leave DRL off 99% of the time. I can't think of a scenario where I'd want them on. The way my switchback halos are mounted on my retrofits, if DRL are activated, they turn amber. I want them white with an amber switchback for the signal lights, which I get with DRL disabled. Having it wired to an independant switch also gives me the option to change my halo color with the flick of a single switch, unaffecting my headlight stalk position.

Wiring in a switch is a very clean option, and if done properly, looks factory. I have a switch to turn on/off my TPMS, and it looks factory. I just use the available blank plate locations and a switch that matches factory dimesnions.

I used a factory style switch for mine. I'll see if I can find a pic of it.

I'd appreciate that. This is the closest I've found:
    https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/nkk-switches/WR11AF/1249126

It matches the cutout size almost perfect and the face of the switch is only 2mm wider and 1mm taller than stock, which would be almost unnoticeable. I used this site to source a switch for under the AC controls, it was a perfect fit. Here's how that one turned out:

This company makes them as well:
    https://www.aironboard.com/online/p...acement-daytime-running-lights-led-white.html

I'm just not sure what exactly is required to make these work. It appears it isn't just a simple mechanical SPST switch. It has this in the description:
"The switch is an electronic switch rated at 3amp's.Therefore in ALL cases the accessory MUST be wired through a fused relay."

I sent them an email for the installation instructions and more information.

    I have two mictuning switches.

    https://mictuning.com/collections/toyota-push-switch

I got one off Amazon and the other from them directly. Watch out, as they have two sizes. The smaller fit the spot under the radio and the larger fit on the dash. Per Amazon order history, I've been running them since 2016 or so. I also have it wired so that it dims with the rest of the dash. The "Driving Lights" is the DTRL switch.

Do you know if it can be wired as a simple 2 wire switch?

It's been a minute since I installed it. I think there are 4 wires. IIRC, at least 3 need to be used, but you could probably connect two of them to the same wire. I believe the 4th wire handles the dimming feature.

No cutting or removal of BECU.
    Purchase parts, assemble harness.
Reach and disconnect 1M from behind the BECU.
Insert assembled intercept harness, route cable to on/off switch location.
    Reconnect to BECU.
    Test & Tidy up.
Remember, releasing parking brake for test.

With this mod, will it allow me to keep the DTRL's on when I turn the headlights on? Right now when I turn the headlights on the DTRL's turn off?
