Looking to replace my leaking steering rack. I've been delaying replacing the original rack using Lucas stop leak and its been working good for about a year but the leaky seals have finally returned and there is a tiny bit of play on one of the inner tie rods. Has anyone used a Detroit Axle manufactured rack? The price is great and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

I have the same problem with my rack. Im finally getting around to doing something about the leak, was planning on using Lucas. Did you mix with PS fluid or pump the PS fluid out then add 100% Lucas?

When I did mine, years ago. I put MotherToyota parts back on. My personal opinion is, if it takes over 2 hrs to do, then OEM is the way. If you can swap easy, aftermarket...

    Just me.

I added the lucas stop leak every time the reservoir got a little low until the bottle was used up. The rack whines for a second when starting in cold weather because its thick stuff but it works.
