I just placed a Eibach pro kit on my truck and have started to get a growling nose from around 20 to 55 mph. I was wanting to see what others experience with the ECGS clam shell bushing was. This noise seems to go away when I engage the truck into 4hi. I have read numerous postings on here but have trouble following the symptoms to know what to replace on the truck. I also have a OME carrier bearing drop.

    You need the ECGS bushing.

Ok. Do you think I should replace the cv axle while I’m in there? The truck has around 50,000 miles on it. It was making the noise a little bit before the lift but couldn’t get the dealership to fix it. They said it was because of the AT tires I put on the truck. They were brand new. I appreciate your reply.

No just the bushing, a new seal. Replace the differential fluid during the process, but that's it.

The CV axles will eventually wear due to the lift but they are likely fine right now.

Make sure it is not the holes in the lower control arms. The wind passes over those holes, after you raise it a smidge, and it is like an Ocarina. I think it is because when it is raised, and most likely you took the front air damn off, the lower control arm levels out a bit and the wind hits it at the perfect angle. Anyways, try plugging the holes in the lower control arms. I got some plugs from Ace Hardware, however, there is a Toyota service bulletin covering this issue.

I had that issue on my 16 but very different sound than what OP is describing. And he has the hallmark sign of a bad bushing by it going away when 4wd is engaged.

Yep, you are probably right. Still, a few pieces of duct tape and five minutes would verify.

I will grab some duct tape this evening and give it a try while I’m waiting on the bushing. I will give an update tonight.

I was going to give an update on the truck. I done the ECGS bushing and I’m still getting vibrations in the vehicle and steering wheel. My mirrors on the Door and I can feel it in the seat and steering wheel. Since I was still getting this I bought the old man emu carrier bearing drop and it is still doing it. Not sure if anyone would know the best place I could take there truck in southwest va or somewhere in North Carolina that would actually find the issue.
