You may want to notch it first. It may just be the pic, but it doesn’t look like you have enough straight tube to land a 4” price of tubing on, if it’s going where your tape measure it at

That's where I was going to go, and they also have a tool and shop equipment building too. One day I was watching "B is for Build" on YT and mentioned Metal Supermarkets. Went over there and it was very cool because they cut to your dimensions for little cost. Shapiro I'm not sure about. I can't handle a 20' stick of 1.75 dom or CM. lmao. I don't even have a trailer. Oh, and price is really not a game changer for me. I'm not driving 25 miles for 10 cents a foot especially if they call me by my first name...Ha!

Shapiro has cut my stuff into manageable pieces for free but they say to give them a 1/4” tolerance in free cuts. They charge for more precise cuts but I have never had an issue with the accuracy if the free ones.

thats the trick. My grandfather was the Vice President of a metal supplier where I live when I was growing up. He always told me that pretty much every supply warehouse will give you a cut on each stick for free if you tell them it’s for travel. That’s what I used to do before finding delivery.

Most of the yards I've delt with in Ga and Fl allowed me to plug in the portaband to chop it up. I'm kinda new to the St. Louis area. I also like to use the sponsors on the Builder Videos. Helps those guys out too.

generally they cut it for you. I just tell the guy at the counter “I’ll take two sticks of 1 3/4” .120 wall dom cut in half for travel”. I’ve never had anyone charge me for that. I know the bigger warehouses by me prefer that over having customers use their own tools on their property. But California may be more sue happy than everywhere else in the country.

Does anyone know of this would be a terrible idea to spray over my exhaust welds? Just to slow down rust. This is the best thing I have on hand without going to a store.

The portaband talk the other day reminded me I have one of the two that came over on the ark in the shop at home. It still works although I rarely use it.

I could only guess using your tools at someone else`s business and you do something dumb the Lawyers would celebrate!!

Last I needed it as a Independent Contractor I needed $ 3,000,000.00 in insurance that was in the late nineties for any hot work

Not welding yet, but figured some of you may find this useful.

Just took my first crack at electrolytic rust removal (big name for easy process) on a set of D60 knuckles with great results. For those of you also dealing with rusty shit that you’ve gotta clean up I’d look into the process. All you need is a tub to hold the parts, scrap steel, sodium carbonate, and an old battery charger. I found this thread particularly useful: https://www.fullsizebronco.com/threads/electrolytic-rust-removal-the-right-way.94537/

And because nothing counts if there’s not pics:

Final plan for my bike rack. Hopefully it wouldn’t be too hard for someone.

My dryer has a 30a outlet and this receptacle with a 30a breaker. It’s right off my garage. I’m renting otherwise I would just have a 50a outlet installed.

Here’s my question. I would need a small extension cord anyways for a 240 welder, maybe 25’. Could I just put a 30a male plug and a 50a female end so I could plug a 240 welder into that outlet? Basically making an extension cord with two different style ends in it.

The welder I’m looking at needs 26.8a input so I’d so I’d be below that 30a breaker threshold anyways.

Just bouncing around ideas and wondering if this is a possibility, or if I’m missing something.
