ive installed a couple but never used one. you have to weigh the initial payment to what you would save over the lifetime of the unit.that i do not have an answer to

Toyota all weather floor mats. Mag light that clunks around in the jack compartment. Dog hair. Dog drool on the windows.
I put one in a year and a half ago. Love it!
Just see what local codes are, since they vary, state to state, city to city.
Must be direct vent. As everyone says needs 3/4 inch gas pipe. And 3/4" Water supply.
didn't really see a benefit in my energy savings. but that was only because I lived alone at the time, and I was very efficient.

I put one in for about $1,200. Having someone else do it would double the price.
    Basic rule of thumb.
but doing it myself voided my energy company rebate.
and if I had someone installl it, they had to be in the program with the energy company. (National greed (grid)).

    back to bone stock.
i just got one. LOVE IT!

buy Rinnai or Tegaki (?) only. i have a Rinnai. you need a dedicated gas line. so for cost efficiency, i bought the exterior model and had it installed outside my home. no cat III exhaust needed..and it was next to my gas meter, water meter..and elec. piece o cake. i ran the remote panel into my bathroom. set it on 120 deg and have never messed with it. default is 140.

i have seen a drop in the gas bill. but the main benefit..i got rid of that hulking water heater and opened up some room in my tiny home.

My electric 50 gal. water heater died in April. I wanted to go tankless, but was told to stay away from the electric tankless. I considered going propane but due to the location of my water heater ( in garage in front corner) I would need to vent to the outside. I have a side entry garage with the front wall facing the street. Venting on the front of the house was not something I wanted to do and venting out the roof I did not think would look good either, so I went with a heat pump water heater and I am very pleased so far. If you cannot go tankless then I would definitely consider a heat pump water heater.

i have one but dont buy at homedepot. homedepot ones are garbage! the best brand is noritz. everything is the same except everything is at the bottom and you'll need an electrical outlet. the exhaust vent is still at the top though.

I like the tankless vs the tank. The digital heat control is pretty slick. Mine will heat three full baths in the house with more than plenty of hot water all the time when needed. Highly reccomend one.

I love my Rinnai, endless hot water! Get this, the tankless uses less gas running full time than the old one used when no one was living in the house. Worth every penny, and the 30% back from the Feds makes it a no-brainer.
