    Hey,
just posting the completed project I did while self isolating. I wanted a bed rack for recovery gear and a load warrior basket. But also wanted to easily be able to remove the cross bars and basket to utilize my bed for hauling cargo. The side rails are permanently mounted, but the rest is removable quickly with 4 bolts. Taking it for powder coating in a few weeks.

    Meterial:
    1-1/4” tube aluminum
    1-1/2 U channel
    3/8 hardware
Rivnuts to mount rails to truck

Nice, I always liked the rail on the top of the bed sides. Most look like bathroom rails, but the square box looks real nice.

Good looking build. Awesome welding job. Wish mine looked that good. I’m a self taught hobby welder, so I’m still learning and a grinder is sometimes my best friend. LOL

I will mention, on aluminum never grind the welds down. You will loose most of the strength. And like anything practice makes perfect. :hattip:

Good to know. I’ve never welded aluminum, just steel. I’ll take all the advice I can get. Thanks
