    I had considered making the module work exactly the way you describe, it would have overrode the ADD motor while sending the appropriate signals to the 4wd ECU that ADD had not been adjusted out of Toyota's acceptable range of criteria. At the end of the day I decided not to do it though and have it work the way it does since it then retains all of Toyota's built in safety factors. Essentially I didn't want someone to grenade their front diff due to me designing a product that would allow for that to happen. It would have actually been much simpler to build it the way you describe though.

    Shifting between 2lo and 4lo requires to go back to 2hi in between each time. Not the quickest option but as I explained above is one that allowed all of the Toyota safeties to remain in place.

    I personally think you would benefit from the mod, but that's just my opinion. I get nervous binding up in 4lo since there is so much added torque that things can go wrong fast. That said I've bound up a few times before the 2lo mod and didn't break anything.

    It's certainly not a mod that is for everyone, some people really have no use for it at all while others use it all the time. It seems to be a big crowd pleaser with the MT crowd. The benefits of the mod greatly depend on how you use your truck.

    @Up2NoGood

    I got my 2lo kit installed today. Works as advertised and is going to be very handy having the low gear in 2wd. Thanks again.

    Got mine yesterday and installed today. Works great! Took less than 5 minutes to install.

    Question, for those who have done the anytime locked mod...did you do it to the factory harness side?

    AironBoard.com. The switches are $20, but look mostly stock which I like.

    this comes with the usual caveat of: I assume no responsibility for wiring issues in your truck if you follow my instructions.... I’m no wiring expert.

    I used an AironBoard switch. It has a common ground (which means this switch can’t be dimmed with the cab light circuit. The wiring diagram for the switch is below.

    Black wire to a chassis ground. Blue wire tapped to either an add a fuse in the “tail” spot in the cab fuse panel or in my case I used a wire tap to a the solid green wire in the AC unit harness.

    The red wire from the switch to the loose wire from the 10pin connector on the 2lo. Green wire from the switch to the loose wire in the 20pin connector of the 2lo module.

    Everything looks good except you made a mistake in your description. This should be connected to the blue wire on the aironboard switch.

    Anyone know what gauge wire is used in these wire bundles for the 4wd switch and computer?

    Well Up2NoGood, your 2lo kit and instructions are truly fool proof, cause I got her in and working within 15 minutes, and it works perfect!
    I now have a lean, mean, towing machine: manual transmission, towing package with the oil cooler, air bags, and now the 2lo kit!
    Thanks again.
