Created a dog platform for my dog. Unfortunately wasnt super happy about version 1. So i built another one.

Built in ramp and a small section of platform folds up so my 15 year old puppy can get in easier by herself. She does not like being picked up...

Just took some more pictures. Ramp slides in... i created a rail to hold it (I don't even think it needs the rail/brackets). The part that swings up is deliberate. Gives my dog a chance to step from the ramp, into the back of the cab, and then onto her blanket. You can see the metal brackets in the pictures below. That one piece of plain plywood, is for my jackstand...3/4 inch... required to have it if i go on the beach (they actually check before you get permit). The ramp is a little on the short side, but works with the step rail. If you don't have a step rail, you'd probably have to make it longer (if you have an older dog like i do) or put a vertical piece on the end so it acts as a step/ramp (which mine has). I also took an outdoor door mat, flipped it upside down and stapled/screwed into the ramp. The tacky side gave my dog much better purchase on the ramp. That gray carpet was a little too slippery for my dog.

The carpet was 20$, indoor/outdoor floor mat was 20$(i think), hinges 5$, plywood (1/2inch sheet) about 15. spray on glue 10$, brackets about 10$, carpet padding about 10. i think i bought all of it from home depot. Because Plywood is only 1/2 inch thick, Makes it easy to remove from truck or if needed to lift up to gain access to the jackstand.

My tacoma was the utility pacakge (no bench seats), so if you have bench seats, you'll probably need some adjustments.

I'm a little over 6 2... and have plenty of room to slide my seat back. Also, even with seat all the way in the back, i can still lean it as far back as i need.

Dimensions are about 26 deep by 51 wide (i think).

Just an update. I had version 1 listed as free to pick up. It is gone. Happy someone could put it to use.

Nicely done! Do you have a photo of v1 with the "built in ramp" pulled out? Does the ramp just slide in under the top deck? Or is it secured on with a rail or something?

I'm about to build something similar and have been scouring around for photos for ideas. Thanks!
